Are SP decks the best to play?

Hello,

With Autumn Battle Roads about to commence, are SP decks (LuxChomp, DialgaChomp, etc...)the best deck to play for Autumn Battle Roads?

I personally like to play stage-1 or Stage-2 decks; however, I noticed that SP decks haven't been negatively affected by the set rotation. Also, when making a none SP deck, it's very hard to combat an SP deck (this is due to cards like Power Spray which can drastically impede my progress). As of now, I personally feel SP decks are the play, however, I would like to get the Pokemon community's opinion on this, and maybe some reassurance that a good none SP deck still exist.

Thanks for reading.

SP decks are really some of the only things that I can think of winning. A few non SP decks can pull through, but not by much. I have a lot of hope for decks like sablelock. Luxchomp is also good. Dialgachomp was going to be great until it gained some enemies, drifblim and blaziken(who is being teched into decks to counter vileplume). Although these things can be worked around by dragon rushing it before it can attack it still gives the DG player a harder time. So I don't think it's the safest play for me, but someone will be able to win with it.

Overall, I think SP decks are the best to play. Sure, there are other strong decks out there, like Donphan/Manectric/ERL, but SP decks still remain the strongest, and are thus the best to play.

Most sp decks are going to be playing at least 1-1 Dialga X because of Vileplume. I am glad they found something to slow sp decks down. But good sp deck players will find a way to beat them.

yea then I get 2 play trainers and you get pwned lol

Only power sprays. After your attack is the turn of vileplume, which most likely has an oddish, a candy and a vileplume (or bts) or at least some recovery, due to the amount of saved cards from the lock, so the lock is up again. And depending on the varient, it will most likely kill the Uxie (i.e. Poltergeist). Plus now you have Luxray Gl benched (you couldn't poketurn) so most likely you don't have another one ready as you can't use your search cards. And your recovery for Uxie is not likely to be up any time soon. Of course this will only happen if the vileplume player has a way to put a vileplume back online (which is very unlikely do to searchable cards, saved trainers and multiple vileplume lines /sarcasm).

SP has an answer to practically everything, and that's what makes them good. The only card that they "loose" is roseanne's which everyone has to cope with. For power reliant decks, SP has power spray. For set-up decks, they outspeed/destroy set up. They have a great engine that can practically get them whatever they want, and they can be teched out to an insane extent. For those of you who are saying that Spiriplume will constantly beat SP, Luxchomp will now be playing Dialga G x, Sablelock will be playing Blaziken FB x, and Dialgachomp has Dialga G X.

I find that Dialga G Lv.X isn't as clear-cut a counter as some people make it out to be. You have to remember that Dialga is incredibly heavy, and most SP decks aren't going to run more than two Warp Energy, so that gives them, at most, two chances for Dialga to escape the active spot, assuming of course that neither are prized.

Combine this with the fact that some Viletomb players (myself included) are teching in a 1-1 Blaziken FB for mirror matches and counters to Dialga, and you have a dead-even struggle. Trust me, I've simmed my Luxchomp build (which utilizes all the new stuff like Energy Exchanger, etc.) vs my Viletomb build and not once has Luxchomp EVER managed to break out of the trainer lock for more than a turn before Dialga is immediately dealt with by Blaziken FB. Sure, it SOUNDS simple enough to break out, but the reality is that their only option to preserve Dialga is to turn it, which sets the Trainer Lock up again. Little things like that fluster the one playing Luxchomp.

I always find it funny how people say "And now this deck is teching this..." when the season hasn't even started yet. If you tech it, speak for yourself..but that doesn't mean the majority of people do it or are going to do it.

And I'm speaking on both sides here because both sides have said it in this argument.

Ya, a 1-1 Dialga tech in no ways saves SP due to Level Down and Lookers. And the SP player would have to be pretty lucky to get Luxray X and Uxie X without trainers before the VileGar player had a chance to build up a second Vileplume.

yea then I get 2 play trainers and you get pwned lol

Psh, SOMEONE did their studying!

Chances are another Vileplume is already/will be set up by the next turn, assuming
they run a good Gengplume deck! Also not to mention if you knock out Vileplume
trainers are now useful for the Gengplume user, making for a quick set up and you're
back in trainer lock! If played well, you won't even have the chance to play any of
your turns or any other trainer for that matter!

For those of you who are saying that Spiriplume will constantly beat SP, Luxchomp will now be playing Dialga G x, Sablelock will be playing Blaziken FB x, and Dialgachomp has Dialga G X.

Dialga will be leveled down, and because of Vileplumes body, you can't search
for it again/ can't power spray it, so unless you happen to be EXTREMELY lucky
and top deck one, that tech just won't do...
