Are the set associated theme decks going to be discontinued?

First we have legendary treasures. In order to make way for the XY video games, in lieu of the Legendary Treasures theme decks, they released the XY starter set decks instead.

In the Pokemon website, the Plasma Storm, Plasma Freeze, and Plasma Blast page has a blurb stating that both boosters and theme decks will include a code for TCGO. Legendary Treasures does not mention anything about theme decks, because we know that legendary treasures doesn't have any theme decks.

I checked out the page on the February XY set. It also didn't mention anything about theme decks. Usually when a new set is announced, it always mentions the theme decks, but it isn't the case for XY. This means one of 4 things.

  1. TPCi will stop making set associated theme decks, and there won't ever be theme decks.
  2. TPCi will stop making set associated theme decks, but there will be theme decks that aren't set associated.
  3. There won't be theme decks for the february xy set only.
  4. They haven't announced that there will be theme decks yet.

So what do you think?

As a theme deck collector, it kind of gets to me that there may be a set in which it doesn't have any theme decks released close to that time.

Also what do you think will happen to Pokemon TCG if TPCi discontinued the set specific theme decks?

Or 5) the XY PCDs are the ones being released on November 8th, and only LT will be missing its PCD.

IIRC, this is similar to what happened when BW1 was released. While CoL did have its own PCDs, the BW PCDs were released simultaneously with the VGs, and about a month (maybe two) before the BW1 set.

That is sort of like outcome 3, where there won't be any theme decks released in february. If what you said was true, legendary treasures will be missing theme decks, and February will not have any theme decks released. Because the Kalos starter sets are released in November, they are in the same time frame as Legendary Treasures release, but they don't have theme decks. That's understandable because they want to release XY stuff close to the video game release. But they can't just say that the theme decks for the February XY set is released in November, if they did that, why didn't they release the Legendary Treasures theme decks along with the 3 Kalos starter decks?

Again, I really hope that February XY set will get their own theme decks. Maybe based on Xerneas and Yveltel? I also hope they don't stop doing theme decks or have one or more quarters in a year without theme decks.

Because of the Kalos Starter Set and Legendary Treasures being mostly reprints, making theme decks for that expansion didn't really work out. XY will have theme decks in Feb, we're just announcing the set earlier than normal to sync up w/ Japan's announcements.

XY kalos starter set consisting of reprints eh?

Will the reprint portion of the kalos starter set decks be legendary treasures cards, considering legendary treasures don't have theme decks of their own? I saw the new xy kalos starter set expansion symbol, will the entire contain that symbol, or just the new cards, while the rest have the legendary treasures expansion symbol?

So basically Legendary Treasures and the Kalos starter set is an anomaly in set associated theme decks, and future sets will go back to having set 2 associated theme decks right?
