Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Attractions in or around San Diego, CA

http://www.signonsandiego.com/visitorsguide/ is SignOnSanDiego's Visitor's Guide; a lot of info about SD can be found here.

Looks like the Padres are travelling August 16 - 21, according to their schedule.

Old Town San Diego is just down I-8 from the Town and Country, at the intersection of I-8 and I-5.

Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala is east of the Town and Country, just east of Qualcomm Stadium (home of the Chargers).

The Chargers will be playing a 1:05 pm preseason game vs. St. Louis on Sunday August 21 at Qualcomm; the stadium is easily accessable via the SD Trolley which has a stop at Fashion Valley Mall.

MOM- do you know how long (driving) it is to reach Mexico. And are there hugh customchecks to jump in and out Mexico?

It would be nice if we could say we have been in Mexico for a few hours, but when customs checks takes hours or are difficult it's not worth it.

You can take the trolley right to the border and walk across. You don't want to drive across because of insurance issues, and as I recall there are stores etc, right at the border.

The time it takes to cross depends on the time of day; it will take longer crossing into the US in the morning and evenings, as that is when most traffic occurs.

I thought since we are getting close to Worlds it would be nice to have a list of attractions that people visiting from out of state/country might consider prior to or after Worlds. Here is a start and please feel free to add...

ULTRAZONE - The Ultimate Laser Adventure (3 miles from Town & Country based on Mapquest)

infact, if Worlds is at San Diego again next year, I will challenge anyone to lazer tag!

Count us in as we were planning a trip there. :thumb:

theres a dnb down the street from me, i find it lame that you have to be 21 to wonder free in there, if your under 21, you have to stick next to the person over 21 =\

Depends upon the time of day. The new Padres stadium is downtown, adjacent to the Convenion Center where the WCSTS was held; the Worlds hotel is in Mission Valley, in approximately the same area where the WCSTS hotel was (off I-8). I would allow at least an hour before gametime for a day game, more for a night game as traffic in and out of downtown is horrible, especially if there is a large event going on at the convention center like Comic-Con this week...

[EDIT: That's what I get for posting early in the morning before I've had my coffee. There is a SD Trolley station at Fashion Valley Mall, right behind the Town and Country; the Trolley can take you downtown and let you off right next to Petco Park.]

what the heck is the Petco Park is it a BIG Petco?

Petco Park is the name of the Padres' new stadium, which is located downtown, across the street from the Convention Center. Petco purchased the naming rights when the stadium was built.

If you like fishing half day party boats that leave out of fisherman's wharf will take you to fish the Coronado Isles. You can rent all the things you need at the landings. The boats will be targeting yellowtail which are big and fun to catch (they also taste good but I doubt you'll keep one, that is if you manage to get it on the boat Mwahahahahaha). Party boats generally cost $30.00 and the total cost of rental is somewhere between $10 or $20. PM me if you want or need more info. Hope it helps.

Ok, since we won the trip weve been looking around to see what all there is to do. I have been trying for weeks now to look into LEGOLAND & cant seem to find a link that works. I have tried everything. Can anyone get onto lego's website? I have tried 2 different pc's at home & nothing on either one. Im sure we wont have the time or $, but I really want to see if this is something that I might plan for another time. My kids would love it there Im sure but I have no idea what is there or what its like. If anyone can get in, can you please tell me the prices & so on. Just the general info you need to know about the park. I would certainly appreciate it!
Thanks in advance
Melissa (not tank by the way...lol)

Just as a FYI: those of you who plan to rent cars, be prepared for sticker shock when it comes to gas prices!

As of today, the average price per gallon for regular unleaded is around $2.75/gallon; it'll probably go up more by next week =/

It's called the 'sunshine tax' here; SD consistently has one of the, if not THE highest gas prices in the state =/

I forgot about this post actually...lol Im trying it now! Thanks

And yes, we are in the process of renting a car because were switching hotels Monday, & the shuttle back & forth would be just as much as a rental. We do plan on doing a little sight seeing on Monday therefore we know NO ONE in Cali & have to rent a car. Gas here right now is $2.54 so whats .20 more cents at this point!

Thanks for the input though!
