Austino's 2-2 Tulsa CC Report!

So I'm coming into this tournament with a super-sweet 23-0 record for CC's with a 50% split between judging and playing. I end up not being needed, so I fill out a decklist, running the same list I 8-0'd Jenks the day before with -1 Ambipom, -1 Dragonite for 1-1 ERL.

Round 1: Seth - Regigigigigigas
Probably one of the top games of my entire CC run. Tons of Psychic Binds, Let Looses, and Judges from his end, disrupting me, but only to met my disruption in the form of Bright Looks on Giratinas followed by snipes, spraying most of his uxies, and abusing his snowpoint temple. Unfortunately, the Snow Point kept me from being able to just take an easy win on 4 of his pokes thanks to ERL, but the game STILL goes down to 1-1 prizes waaay past time as we both utilize survival tactics (IE: him flipping 3 crucial tails on gigaton punch to keep myself in the game) until I bright look/flash impact x2 ftw on his giratina after he had already used both junk arm/warp point. This was the definition of a good game. Well played Seth, especially for just building the deck the previous night @ 2:00 am, LOL

1-0

Round 2: edwarpy - Uxie Donk
So, I start with luxray, bronzong, collector, power spray, etc, but "win" the coin flip so I go first. He seekers up my bronzong and plays half his deck to finally get the KO on Luxray. Undefeated streak is over on a game I got one turn....bleh. I wish him luck in the rest of the event and take my bitter berries elsewhere.

1-1

They announce that they're cutting the amount of rounds from 5 rds/Top 4 to make it 4 rds/Top 8 because of time constraints at the venue. (It didn't make sense cutting a 30+3 round for a 60 min round, but w/e, it let more people into top cut, so good stuff?)

Round 3: ?? - Uxie Donk
I sit down still flustered from losing a game I didn't get to play and jokingly said, "I sure hope you aren't playing Uxie Donk", to which he hesitantly told me he in fact was playing Uxie Donk. At this point, our decks are shuffled, we cut, and I draw my opening 7.....2 collectors, Power Spray, Uxie, random stuff. I put down uxie and "win" the coin toss again....Needless to say, for the second game in a row, I have lost without getting a turn to play anything down. He apologizes for donking me (kinda funny to apologize for something that you meant and built your deck to do, LOL) and I go watch Seth play his regigigas vs kingdra/machamp, which he pulls out another clutch game to 1-1 prizes (winning this one).

1-2

Round 4: Michael's Wifey - Straight Machamp
Great, 1-2 and now I'm paired up against donkchamp, ha ha. I'm shaking in my boots as she starts machop/unown R to my lone garchomp C. I "win" the coin flip yet again and attach call/use it for luxray and an uxie. Sure enough, she gets T1 machamp on me and Take Outs my Garchomp C to dinner and doesn't call her back. I promote Uxie, level up, attach DCE, collector for crobat g, lucario GL, and something else (I don't remember what the other was, at the moment). Flash bite the active machamp and Zen Blade for the KO. She promotes Unown R (she was glad she didn't retire it since it was her only other poke on the field) draws/benches machop, plays lookers on her own hand, rare candies into machamp and passes. I'm slightly nervous at this point, luckily she wasn't able to retreat the R. I discard the DCE off uxie X to retreat to luxray, lv up, bright looking up machamp. I poketurn the luxray (rebenching it), cyrus for a poketurn and other stuff, turn/flash bite with crobat, attach DCE to uxie x, and zen blade this machamp for the KO, grabbing spray out of my prizes. She promotes Unown R, collectors for Machop, Uxie, and Unown R, benches all 3 but I spray the uxie. She retires for a card and passes. Next turn I retreat, bright look machop, and flash impact it, to which she scooped not having the ability to get out machamp again.

2-2

Props:
Got a few great trades at the event
Taylor, Michael, and Kevin hitting top cut
Seth going 3-1
Getting Chinese food with Michael's crew after the event. Great people.

Slops:
T1 losses
Seth whiffing cut even with 3-1 record in a Top 8.

Uxie donk 2 rounds in a row is brutal. I lost to Ed in top 4 when I judged him. Ah well, hope you do good with the rest of the season!

Yeah man the only two losses I received from a cities I went to yesterday were to 2 round one donks too, and I play SP!

I wasn't too upset about it though, that's the metagame right now. I'm sure you've donked plenty of people in your career (as of I).

Good job with the streak though :thumb:

Man, I feel bad trying to popularize Uxiedonk in Texas now...lol

Sorry about the donks, good job anyways

EDIT: Seth was playing Regi? Not LosGatos? Hmm...
