What are the Pokémon TCG Battle Road Autumn tournaments?

The Pokémon TCG Battle Road Autumn tournaments are where players in each of the three POP-recognized age divisions can work on their Premier Ratings, potentially earning a trip to the 2009 World Championships! Results of the Battle Road tournaments count toward your Premier Rating!

Battle Road tournaments are operated by independent Tournament Organizers across North America.

For details regarding Battle Road tournaments outside of North America, please click here.
When are the Pokémon TCG Battle Road Autumn tournaments?

The Pokémon TCG Battle Road Autumn tournaments will be taking place from September 20th through October 12th. International Battle Road events will take place through the end of October. Times and locations of Battle Road events in your area are coming soon.

Remember, while we frequently update our events schedule, we recommend that you contact the local Tournament Organizer to confirm event schedule information.
How much does the event cost?

All Pokémon Organized Play Premier events in North America are FREE! That’s right—there is no admission fee for Battle Road tournaments! Get your decks tuned up, and get down to your local Battle Road location for your first shot at this free event! Organizers may charge for side events run at these tournaments.
What is the tournament structure?

The tournament is run using the Modified Constructed Format and Age Modified Swiss pairings. If attendance is appropriate, some Tournament Organizers may choose to run straight Swiss pairings. See the Pokémon Tournament Rules for information about the Modified Format and Swiss. The number of Swiss rounds run will depend on total attendance at the event.

The sets that are legal in the Modified Format have recently been updated. Please make sure you're ready with a legal deck by reviewing the legal sets for the Modified Format here.

The Battle Road series will have a K-Value of 4. For more information on how the K-Value affects your Premier Rating, please see the Ratings and Rankings FAQ.
What are the prizes?

Prizes are awarded to the top 2 players in each age division.

Our divisions are:

Junior Division: Born in 1998 or later

Senior Division: Born in 1994, 1995, 1996, or 1997

Masters Division: Born in 1993 or earlier

1 st Place

* 8 Pokémon TCG booster packs.
* A Victory Medal —Silver promo card

2 nd Place

What do I need to know?

Bring your POP ID, if you have one. If you don't have a POP ID, one will be given to you at the event.

See the Pokémon Tournament Rules for more information about what to bring to an event.

Make sure you arrive on time. If you are late for registration, you may not be able to play in the event.

To participate in the event, you must be a player in good standing and abide by the Tournament Rules.

See the legal notices for certain eligibility requirements and other information concerning limitations on Pokémon USA Inc.’s liability.

What happens after the tournament?

After the tournament ends, the Tournament Organizer will submit the tournament results to Pokémon USA, Inc. Pokémon, which sanctions the tournaments, will determine player rankings. Pokémon Organized Play reserves the right to remove the Premier Event status of any event that is not run in accordance with Premier Event policies.

4-K Value??

Almost makes me NOT want to go.... Some/most people will have to drive a bit to get to one close to them and with gas prices so high i can see a lot of people not going to battle roads...

Anyone else sad/upset that the value is too low to make it worthwhile??

Wow POP just lowered BR attendance numbers to a record low!:nonono:

Edit: I will still attend as many BRs as possible. Just saying for others.

I would play if there was a zero K value, I just enjoy playing the game of Pokemon in a competitive atmosphere.

Ratings Potentially earning a trip??? Anyone else catch that little bitty nugget o' potential goodness???

So not only do they make the K value so its hardly worth it, but since less people will probably come, with that new top cut rule, we probably will only cut to top 2 in many areas. Great job POP, you just killed Battle Roads, as now they are even more pointless then last year. I don't want to hear "battle roads are small local tourneys, that are mostly for fun" junk. If I'm going to drive over an hour to get to a tourney and spend the $ on all the gas, I want a good chance not only to make top cut, but play in a decent sized tourney. If I wanted to play in a tourney with only 8 or so people, and only cut to top 2, I may as well drive an hour to get to the closest league. >.<

Thank you POP for taking out the very little bit of fun there was in Battle Roads. What is it going to be next year, call them League Battles, and only let people that go to THAT league play in the tourney?

Yaknow, Mike Liesik hinted in another thread that THE WHOLE VALUE SYSTEM IS CHANGING.

Don't say that the value system is low, they could have halved ALL of the values, so its basically the same thing, just different numbers.

I like it.
I hope (because of the low K-value) the International BR are allowed to take place also after Nationals.
Most countries had to fit in many BR in the month of April, having a Nationals somewere in April/May/June and that was it. End of tournament season and in most cases 5 months nothing.

I would love to see (if the other tournaments stay the same) having International BR in a time frame from April until the end of June.

Points have changed indeed.

* Battle Roads Autumn - 4 points (07-08: 8 points)
* City Championships - 16 points
* State Championships - 32 points
* Regional Championships - 32 points (07-08: 36 points)
* Battle Roads Spring - 4 points (07-08: 8 points)
* National Championship - 32 points (07-08: 44 points)

ugh I hope BR attendance isnt low. I mean with the new pathetic K value it probably will be but that will just make it worse overall

Gosh stop the Victory Medals! We want Holo Roseanne's/Buck's like the JPN players get, not Victory Medals!

Ok Pablo, you can send any you get to me if you like. I'd be quite happy to get those. Without a doubt in my mind. In fact, can we shake on that?

wow Pop, you pretty much are single handedly killing the game. I mean at spring BRs when they were only giving prizes to top 2. But now they are reducing K-value. This is just pathetic

Don't get my post wrong, I love the season, I love everything related to Pokemon, I'm just jealous of the promos JPN players get when compared to ours. I would happily send you any I win if you do in fact need them, as I don't need them myself, but I'm guessing your post was more a sarcastic remark trying to portray me as greedy than a serious request for the promos.
