Best Game of 2005?

Just curious, what was the best video game of last year in you guys' opinions, and why?

Personally, my favortie was Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney for NDS, outstanding game. Great characters, funny, and it actually makes you think, best game I've played in a long while.

Runner-Up had to be Mario Kart DS, just classic Mario Kart, but the dual screen, and Wi-Fi are perfect for it, making it even better, IMO.

So yeah, great year for the NDS, I think >.>

Phoenix Wright is the single greatest rental game ever put out for any system. Unfortunately, it has absolutely zero replay value, which kinda hurts its overall score.

Was FF4 released this year? If so, then I'd probably nominate that for GOY.

even though it was very early 2005, I would have to go with God of War on the consoles... while Resident Evil was an awsome game it was technically best game of 04 (didnt it come out late 2004? Cant remember now... fairly sure) The PS2 release was nice, but meh...

Handheld I would go with Mario Kart DS. A late bloomer, but it quickly outsold darn near everything this Christmas, and its freakin WiFi
