Blastoise/Feraligatr versus Blastoise/floatzle

I prefer the Blastgatr, but I was curious of the mutiple opinions others may have.

FIGHT!

Lol you know where I stand on this. I like Floatzel way more. he's stage 1 and has free retreat. much faster imo, and with a plus power 1HKO a reshiram. but one of my best friends is totally for feraligatr.

Well, it all really depends...
I really like both variants for different reasons. Blastgatr has a minor tech against electric decks because Feraligatr has grass weakness, but it is slower. Floastoise is by far faster, having the potential to be set up by turn two, but is completely weak to electric decks.

Though witht he current format, I'd have to say Floatstoise because of it's faster set-up~

you can tech donphan prime in floatzel with out losing too much consistency and taking care of the lightning pokemon out there today

As of now: Floatzel is faster to set-up and isn't hurt too badly by Reversals

As of post-Emerging Powers: I would personally use Feraligatr over Floatzel just because Gatr can be used to power up a quick Kyerum, which will be awesome early game. It would be hurt badly by Catcher, but we'll just have to see

Blastzel is a far safer play since Floatzel is a stage 1 pokemon that allows more room for consistency in your deck building.

Saving a rare candy for your Blastoise instead of setting up your energy acceleration in gator allows for a faster main attacker hitting the field and a deck that is less likely to be disrupted.

Blastzel also has the luxury of having an extra free retreater in Floatzel after a big daddy turtle gets KO'd

One of the nice things gator has is a more powerful attack (however requiring more energy) and a great weakness in this format with so few grass type main attackers

Gatr also revenges zekrom after he bolt strikes, so zekrom cant sit there all day and bolt strike you to death.

Read the attack. Sonicboom is not affected by weakness or resistance, so sonicboom always does 70, unless ples powered.

Which is exactly. what. he. is. saying.

Person A says Sonicboom is a good attack that hits weakness. Milton says that Sonicboom's attack doesn't hit weakness. And now you are correcting that? o_O

I played an incredibly well-built Blastzel deck in the side event 8-mans at worlds a couple times. We ended up splitting the Top 2 packs twice lol. The deck literally got rolling T3 just about every game. I know for sure he ran 4 Squirtle, at least 3 Blastoise and at least a 3-3 Floatzel line though I assume it was bigger. The deck is actually surprisingly well-positioned against Reshiram and Donphan and not even that horrible against Yanmega. Magnezone is the issue for it though... There's really no justification for running Gatr; he takes up more space, he's slower and far more vulnerable to Catcher.
