2010-8-7 Gastrodon West Sea SW 9

A Gastrodon deck would be so much fun to run. I'm really sad I never got around to making one. Paired with other Gastrodon, it could be pretty decent. 6/10

100 HP is good for a S1.
W is hurtful.
Resistance is good.
Retreat is super heavy.

The first attack's FC for 20 is pretty bad, but I guess the effect is good in a pinch.

FCCC on the second attack is WAY too expensive for a simple 80, especially when it swings on your own guys. =\

1/5.

3 CotDs in a day...geez. Though this one is warranted, seeing as how we reviewed his buddy here. Make sure you check it out to get an idea of the synergy with its buddy here: http://pokegym.net/forums/showthread.php?t=130101

So, Gastrodon West Sea...statwise, 100 HP is solid for a Stage 1, +30 Weakness to :grass: is ok, -20 Resistance to :lightning: is always nice, and :colorless::colorless::colorless::colorless: is very very icky. Raging Flood plays off Gastrodon East Sea's Poke-Power, dealing 20+ 10 more for each damage counter on Gastrodon West Sea for :fighting::colorless:, then healing 20. Wild Waves is expensive for :fighting::colorless::colorless::colorless: for 100 and 1 damage counter to all Benched Pokemon, so eh.

Modified - 3/10 (Honestly it's there mainly to soak up the damage counters from East Sea and to do its uber attack when East Sea eventually dies...shame these days, things like Crobat G pretty much kill their strategy)
Limited - 3/10 (Raging Flood is nice, but that's about it, as it's unlikely you'll get both Gastrodons out, let alone even get them from your packs)
Unlimited - 1/10 (No use here really, so many ways for it to just be OHKOed, it's not that funny)

It's obviously meant to be used in combination with the East Sea version from SW. Raging Flood can do up to 110 damage for just 2 Energy (since I wouldn't waste an Expert Belt on this one), which is nice, but that's the major catch with Rage-type attacks. Frankly, it's probably better to use this in combination with the other Gastrodon West Sea (from RR) in order to power up its strongest attack.

Wow, another Gastrodon!

100 HP is great for a stage 1. The grass weakness sadly hurts, but the lightning resistance is great, but then the retreat cost happens to be very heavy.

Like its East Sea version, Gastrodon West Sea happens to be a decent attacker. Its first attack can do 20 for two, but it will increase by 10 for each damage counter on it. Then, you remove 2 damage counters from it. The second attack hits for 80 for four (three with a DCE), and it puts one damage counter on each of your bench Pokemon. Well..... this thing does sure look like one unique attacker.

Overall 4/10 in modified, 4/10 in limited, and 3/10 in unlimited

In modified, this card is decent. Its got some decent attacking potential with both of its attacks, and it makes a good pair with its East Sea Version too, which apparently happens to be its main function. Plus, it resists to Luxray's attacks, and its typing can also help against it too. The problem with this card, however, is that is is relatively slow compared to other cards, and the weakness to Jumpluff hurts. Still, the card has decent stats that can make it a good rogue card.

In limited, this card is still decent. Its got the same potential like modified (decent attacking coverage, good typing, and good resistance). Here, however, since it needs the East Sea Version to work well, it will be tough to effectively use here because of the fact you may not actually pull out both Gastrodons, so that explains why it isn't rated higher than in modified.

In unlimited, it continues to be a medium-potential card. Again, good attacks give it quite a boost, and here, the typing helps because :fighting: happens to be pretty good here too. Here, however, it is slow once again, and to be exact, many things can outspeed it, and there are more :grass: types to deal with, so it won't be that good like modified or unlimited, but yet again, it can stand up to many cards at the very least.
