With 140 HP, and Giga Drain for 50, this grass monster can out-tank Torterra UL itself. Attach an Expert Belt and you're doing and healing 70 damage per turn. It is slower than Torterra, and its Stage 1 has less HP than Grotle; however, it should be a serious consideration for the new format.

Comparing it to Torterra UL:

10 more damage for 1 energy? Umm, no
Torterra can use that extra energy to use Land crush for 80.

Sorry, but I think this Torterra is a better card.

Comparing to turtwig GL. 50 less HP. Turtwig GL does 30 for one G two C. Can be played a basic (GO SPEED RACER, GOOOOO) Pokebody goes well with the attck. Can be tanked fully with 1 Snowpoint Temple. 1 Landmine LV.X. 1 Expert Belt.

So it's lesser to that of Torterra which is less than that of the turtwig GL

Slower than Torterra, but it is a pretty good card. Combine it with Landmin and Belt plus sunny day Cherrims and this thing is beastly. 6/10 Because we have Torterra.

Today's Rewind CotD is Venusaur from the Rumble set...eh, I don't care for it. Statwise, 140 HP is excellent for a Stage 2, x2 Weakness to :fire: is meh, no Resistance is common, and :colorless::colorless::colorless::colorless: to Retreat is super expensive. Giga Drain, I just honestly think is a bad attack; :grass::grass::colorless::colorless: for 50 is bad, even if you recover by the amount of damage you deal to the Defending. Yes, DCE (or Sceptile GE for another month) can speed it up, and yes you could slap an Expert Belt onto it, but honestly I think it just takes way too long to set up and for fairly marginal benefits.

Modified - 2/10 (Eh, I don't care for it, feel free to prove me wrong if you can)
Limited - 0/10 (Promo card, so can't be used. And screw all you haters for me putting a 0/10 rating just because it can't be used )
Unlimited - 1/10 (Super slow, icky Weakness, gets eaten by ER/SER, easy bait for GoW to bring up when not ready...need I go on?)
Rumble - ?/10 (Never played it...is it useful here? Dunno)

Rumble - ?/10 (Never played it...is it useful here? Dunno)

Pretty intense in Rumble, actually. It's not easy to roll its energy cost, you have to hit two Gs and then the other two have to be energy. So that's not so great. But if you flip it up on a pile you've bet on and you can roll its attack a couple times, it will serve you well. 50 isn't bad and the heal is pretty sick.

An interesting choice indeed! It is definitely comparable to the Torterra UL as others have said, and I will have to agree that although it can heal 10 more damage, the extra Energy cost doesn't make it worth it. If I were playing a Venusaur, I think I'd rather play the Supreme Victors one, since it can attack for one Energy.

I'm am over excited that the main competitor to this card was not torterra, but the more deserving turtwig GL. But this card has the beast of the dragon in the background, Dratini. You can't do much better than that. You all know you spent hours in the original red and blue fishing in the safari zone to catch it. Lawyered.

Best out of Three:
1. Turtwig GL
2. Torterra
3. This Guy

I think this guy is outclassed by Torterra UL. They have similar stats, but torterra can attack for one less :grass: and do 10 less damage. His attack costs :grass: :colorless: :colorless: and hits for 40, healing damage equal to the damge done. Venusaur can do more damage, but it will take one more turn than Torterra. The use of this card really depends on how much of an impact is 50 damage compared to 40. Both cards can use double colorless energy, but Torterra can attack from T2, while this guy can, at best, attack from T3.
Turtwig GL is also similar, but Turtwig needs to have less than 60 HP in order to hit for 60. However, adding HP to him will actually make it harder to activate his body, and without it e only hits for 30.
I would say Venusaur is not a bad card, just slighlty outclassed by Torterra in terms of tank/heal, but it might be better than Turtwig. The use of this card will really depend on how much diffrence will doing 40 to 50 be, with belt it becomes 60 or 70. 70 will 2KO most stage 2's, but 60 won't cut it. However, speed could be an issue as well, but if the format becomes more SP dominant, then less pokemon will have higher HP than 120(to be 2KOed with Torterra w/ belt on).

I agree that in the current format he is outclassed by Torterra UL; however, keep in mind that both require heavy setup and are tanking decks. Doing the extra 10 is not necessarily the advantage that Venusaur has (though it is one nonetheless); however, that extra 10 heal can be key in certain matchups. For example, Luxchomp maxes out at 80 snipe every turn... Against Torterra that's 20 damage a turn, but against Venusaur it's 10 damage a turn. As proven by Unown E, every 10HP counts.

This format: 6/10 (outclassed because of Torterra Lv. X)
Next format: 8/10 (harder and longer to setup than Torterra, but look at Cursegar)

Oh man! Time to review a not so good card in my opinion.:nonono:

140 HP is pretty good for a stage 2. The fire weakness is great, but the retreat cost is too heavy.

Unfortunately, I'm not too convinced about Venasaur. Even though it has the same attacks as Torterra UL, Venasaur needs more energy to use it, four to exact, or three with a DCE. It hits for 50, and then removes a number of damage counters equal to the number of damage you did using it. Well, like with the energy cost, it doesn't hit as hard as Torterra, with it being 50 or 70 with an Expert Belt.

Overall 2/10 in modified, and 1/10 in unlimited

In modified, I don't see much potential for this. It is largely outclassed by Torterra UL because of the fact Torterra hits harder, and it doesn't require as much energy as it is with Venasaur. Thus, Venasuar isn't too effective here, but the factor that "saves" it rating wise is that it still possesses the same attacking potential as Torterra UL can at least.

As for limited? Well, because it's a promo, there's not much of a point to give it a rating here.

In unlimited, this isn't going to do a lot. Cards like Energy Removal will easily take it down, and fire happens to be pretty popular in unlimited, so therefore, I doubt Venasaur would do well here.:nonono:
