Bouffalant

Which Bouffalant? I assume the newest one?

I've seen it used in decks with Terrakion and Mewtwo, to help stop Shaymin EX from ripping through their entire deck. Otherwise it's kind of inferior to the other two options (Or to Tornadus or Tornadus-EX). Definitely a strong attacker though.

It seems like a good "fake" Pokemon EX, at least if your deck can power it up in one drop or has something too important to ignore taking hits and giving time to set it up in more than one turn.

With an Eviolite (and that seems key), it is so hard to OHKO for a non-Fighting-Type attacker, that you can throw it at a Pokemon EX, and if that Pokemon EX can't heal, neither is it likely to OHKO Bouffalant. A second attack then yields a two-to-one trade in Prizes, without worrying about Type-matching.

As for me, I was wondering about a deck using it to back of Sigilyph w/safeguard, maybe with Terrakion EX opening.

A definite concern, which is why I was "wondering" about it and not "I have been running it". ;) I am trying to deduce what I could add in to help. Note that Terrakion EX should be somewhat effective against those two decks on its own, and since it is just being teamed up with two Basic Pokémon, I should have room for more Items.

Since that is my planned Energy acceleration, I would also be focusing on basic Energy cards other than DCE. Terrakion EX can still OHKO an Altaria or Gabite and 2HKO a Garchomp, and without any Special Energy on it, Garchomp isn't slowing it down with Mach Cut. Bouffalant and Sigilyph are, of course, dead weight in such matches, so it won't be easy. If I can squeeze in enough Hammers (already a plan to help Bouffalant) I think I can at least get it to an "even" match-up of tearing down the decks complicated set-up before it can reach "danger" levels.

Empoleon is the opposite; I would just have to hope I could successfully go toe-to-toe with it, literally keeping a light Bench. I guess in both cases, the deck would play like a weaker Quad Pokemon EX strategy. If it wasn't obvious for general readers, of course I am talking pure Theorymon here.

I've been having fun with Empoleon/Bouffalant/Lapras. Basic strategy is to start with Lapras for call for family (and possible donk on anything with 40- HP), Attack Command for KOs on non-EX and Bouffalant for cleanup.

My feeling is that Bouffalant is undervalued. For a Basic, non-EX, being able to oneshot Mew EX and Shaymin EX is fantastic. Add to that the great ability + Eviolite, and you're reducing 40 damage a turn. That means that things like Darkrai's Bench damage, Rayquaza's first attack, they just vanish. You should run it with some form of energy acceleration to attack the turn it's dropped, but it can hold its own startlingly well.
