BRAutumn: no top cut

I'm a relatively new player. Could you inform me of what the old format was?

And Rocky, no, with additional swiss rounds, you DON'T have to go X-0 to win. That's the point. And there isn't as much decided by resistance.

Top Cut at the end of most all BR's.

As nopoke pointed out, Swiss+1 means the winner could be decided on resistance. Is that a good thing?

Downgrading BRs so that they become small entry-level tournaments again is a good idea. BRs were way too important last season. If people want to spin it as a way to sell low prize support and let the TOs go home early (pretty insulting to people who volunteer their time to provide tournaments), then . . . eh. Those people are always going to find a reason to complain whatever they do.

That's the point-- they're becoming more localized. Whether or not this is viewed as beneficial is a personal matter to everybody-- we'll all have beneficial opinions. A side-effect of killing TC is that PTO's and TO's get to go home early-- is that a bad thing? No-- they deserve it. In no way was I saying this was to suit TO's and PTO's because they wanted to go home early. I said that by removing TC and causing players to drop more, more TO's and PTO's will feel like their work will not be appreciated, and thus as a result it is unlikely that they will want to hold as many BR's and other tournaments. I am HUGELY appreciative of what they do and would never attack volunteers-- I do it myself a lot.

Baby mario, I don't think Politoed was calling PTOs and TOs lazy. More PTOs and TOs will start to feel like their efforts are unappreciated if these policies go into effect. :nonono:

These policies are going into effect, and there's nothing we can do to stop it, for this season at least.

Again, I think we need to wait for everything else to be revealed before we judge it....

At the same time it's good to have a public discussion to give P!P an idea of what players think is appropriate in the game and what isn't.

I'm very curious to see what parents, TO's, and PTO's think as well. I've seen some posts from others, but not a lot.

Great so now alot of people are going to quit the Pokemon TCG because of Battle Roads no longer having a Top Cut? Don't get so butt-hurt over this at least be thankful that you're still able to play and enjoy the Pokemon TCG. People who quit the TCG because of something like the removal of Top Cut at Battle Roads were never true fans of the TCG or the Pokemon franchise to begin with. It might be a rude thing to say but it is what it is.

Sometimes you have to draw the line and ask yourself, "Am I having fun playing this TCG?" And If you are that's great but If you're just in it for the prize support and just to be solely competitive without a care about anything else then how does that make you a good player in the Pokemon TCG? It doesn't. It shows that you are only in it to win and nothing else. I don't like the decision TPCi/P!P made either but sometimes we have to face the truth and play with the cards that we're dealt with.

NO ONE plays the game for the prize support because their isn't any prize support.

Yes, the game is fun, but seeing as how we like to play COMPETITIVELY , we should have a competitive environment to support us.

as per Pete De Shaw's post on the PTO forum (which i've been given permission to share): there will be NO match play at BRAutumn, as it would defeat the purpose of making BR into smaller events.

It just gets better and better...

Making into smaller events?

I'm no longer concerned about any of this. Very happy if I'm right.

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww...

I must be reading it incorrectly. Match play as in no bo3, because I read it as 'no playing games during BRs' :/

Mom any word on Championship Points for BRs? If there isn't CPs I think I would be fine with all of this and would love a few months off while everybody else fights it out. If there is still CPs though than its bascially a sack fest with no real skill. Winning a BRs mean you never got a bad hand or Donked.

You can still go to BR's to potentionally get an early lead for your ELO ratings to improve your tiebreaker record for the end of the season. It could mean the difference between getting a worlds invite and not getting one.

Also Mom some sort of press release by P!P on why they felt the need to change how BRs are run would probably go a long with players who as I'm sure you understand have sour grapes about this issue.

SD_Pokemon has passed on what has been stated by POP.
There is no more info to pass on at this point.

Exactly and thatis why I hope that there are not any championship points handed put at battle Roads this year, they are no longer real touraments anymore so no one should get any championship points for participating in them. You do not get any points for winnning a League Tourny so this is the same as winning one of thoes.

I understand Pop I thought I would ask though.

To repeat it one more time I do feel like I speak for a majority of the player base when I say some sort of press release by P!P on why they felt the need to change how BRs are run would probably go a long way with players who as I'm sure you understand have sour grapes about this issue.

Perhaps something you would consider passing along Pop
