Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Bugs and Errors

This is the message I got when I clicked on the Pokegym Forum Link from the thread Storm Set in the Create-a- Card forum.

There seems to have been a slight problem with the database.
Please try again by pressing the refresh button in your browser.

An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff, who you can also contact if the problem persists.

We apologise for any inconvenience.

I think Randy is asking for bugs and anomolies OTHER than the ones the board automatically sends him an error message about....after all, he's already gotten an email about it.

I just tried a minute ago and I couldn't get in. I click my favorites button again and, well, I'm typing this here.

Arggghhhh - I can no longer move easily from the last page of a lengthy topic to the first page... :(

until recently there was a "First page" link near the page number links, but that is gone - please bring it back. (my Haves/Wants in the Trade forum is an example)

Please do NOT make posts about "this page can not be displayed" It has been mentioned before that the server is having its issues. We are aware of those.

Yeah, I am. Trying to figure out some problems that we're having here, plus living my normal life. Not easy to juggle :)

Maybe someone ought to tell vBulletin about a misspelling on the "Database Error" screen. The word "apologize" is misspelled.

What happen?

(sorry, just trying to use up my video game quote quota for the year)

What was with that outage we just had?

SOMEHOW the options in the database was heavily modified/deleted. So there were no available settings for the board.

Things should be up and running again. I'm again in contact with the host to find out what may have happened.

Ya, alot of people are really frustrated. Not to be rude, but what has been happening!?! Thanks,

You think you people are frustrated? I'm the one having to figure out what's wrong! And I get to hear all the crabbing about it being down, when there is unfortunately not much I can do at the moment.

To my knowledge the host has been attacked a lot lately by someone. They have had a lot of downtime due to this, and the mysql (the database) has been turned off frequently since that is what the user is attacking.

Thanks, but there's no need to be rude! I know there's a lot to be done and you're very frustrated, but don't take it out on me! I too understand how much pressure and stress a job like this takes, but try doing something calm for a while. You shouldn't vent on innocent peope. Sorry if I've offended you.

... I wasn't exactly try to be rude, and I was talking in general about the "crabbing". Sorry if it seemed that way :)

Mysql - isn't that a free DB product??? **runs and Goggles Mysql**

Goggle results:

MySQL
freely available database software for Unix and Win32/WinNT.
Category: MySQL
www.mysql.com/ - 28k

Maybe they should give Oracle or SQL Server a shot ;) (oh, never mind about the M$ product - too many patches required to harden...)

:D

No way. Oracle is expensive, usable, but expensive. SQL Server is well... pure crap. Free does NOT mean it's bad. Infact, mysql and Apache are better than top notch servers.

Both Apache and mySQL are extremely stable, secure, and very easy to work with.

As for the recent downtime, I spoke with one of the owners of the company:
Well we actually have never been down. It's mostly due to removing abusive accounts from the server. When an account is removed it has to restart apache, which causes HTTP to go down while it's restarting.
