Can Cobalion beat Mewtwo EX?

I am referring to NV Cobalion.

Cobalion's strengths vs. Mewtwo EX:
Second attack prevents mewtwo ex from attacking altogether. It'll take Mewtwo EX 2 energy to retreat (1 if Skyarrow Bridge is in play).

-20 resistance to Psychic. Plus, Cobalion can use Eviollite. Plus, Cobaliion can use Metal energy.

So...
Cobalion with Eviolite and 2 metal energy blocks 60 of Mewtwo EX's damage. Cobalion can 2HKO Mewtwo EX with a Pluspower. Mewtwo EX can only 2HKO Cobalion. Cobalion seems to win the prize trade.

Thoughts?

I think it pretty much beats it. Mewtwo players should hope for a Cobalion counter or make do with Victini or something.

Because of Skyarrow Bridge, and the fact that Mewtwo can use Eviolite, too, I'd say that it's an even matchup. Depending on who sets up first.

^Yeah, that's pretty important.
But still, If they get set up before you you're in trouble. Also you need Pluspowers consistantly to OHKO them.

Here's my beef with that. Not saying Coballion isn't a good counter, but it's not great.

Mewtwo needs one energy attachment (DCE) to 2HKO a Coballion with three energy on it. Coballion needs those three energy attachments to OHKO Mewtwo, most of the time.

Point is, once they KO the first Coballion, they are probably going to be taking more prizes while you set up a second one. If you use Electrode, that's one way of dealing with it, but there's a prize right there. See what I'm saying? Because of the speed disparity between Mewtwo and Coballion, the prize trade still ends up at last even.

I think the question for this is, will Mewtwo be capable of killing him?

I mean, yeah, it is most definitely possible, but because Cobalion stops him from attacking, and Mewtwo does have a retreat cost, it will be harder than expected.

The thing with that is when Cobalion isn't KO'ed and it has 3 energy, it's going to attack right back and stop Mewtwo from attacking.

Depends, if your talking about a straight Mewtwo deck, such as MewVoir/G2 (Gardevoir/Mewtwo) then Mewtwo can easily retreat out of Coballion, and can two shot it. If a deck is teching it, then it depends on the main deck, for instance it would fair well against ZPSt, but not so well against Reshiphlosiong teching it.

I would say no in any case since Cobalion takes two :metal: energy, so it wouldn't be an easy tech.

Don't forget about xatu here. On the cheap, it can one-shot mewtwo. Cobalion is also a nice counter and mewtwo ex is the reason cobalion/kyurem/electrode is so popular in japan.

Uhm I say Mewtwo's gonna win this one b/c it sets up turn one/turn two and cobalion sets up turn two/turn three, unless it uses trode which then gives Mewtwo a free prize...so i'm gonna give mewtwo the edge for now, until i can test these silly decks...
