Yeah, I play both WS (Disgaea Blues) and VG (OTT Tsukuyomi) pretty heavily. I don't have a preference for either one as they are individual games. "Trigger checks" do not make a game the same and neither does the Grade/Level system. I honestly don't like the anime solely because I find it hard to get excited about an anime where you can predict every climax moment and where you can probably have a better deck than all the characters if you got a starter deck and three boosters.
Vanguard appears to be catching on more in non-Japan countries from what I can see. It is more approachable, definitely. It's also much easier to build a decent deck in VG than WS; I've completely cleaned players in WS who have a deck that's not fine tuned even though their final deck after tuning (3-5 cards) might have a very close matchup against mine, whereas in VG I can't autopilot against a starter deck with a few boosters, even though my deck is fully kitted out and has been through the garage multiple times.
