if I am playing charizard ex and I attach boost energy then attack with burn down, can I use boost energy as part of the energy that I have to discard?
Yes. The Power and Attack both talk only about energy, not about Energy cards or Basic Energy, so Boost counts as three of the required energy and three of the discard.
