The Charlottesville Championship Series is a monthly, year-long combination of sanctioned events hosted at the Jefferson Gym in Charlottesville, VA. This series of events is broken up into 3 terms of 3 to 4 tournaments each month. Each is based around UVA academic semesters. There will be a fall, spring, and summer season term during the course of the year. Each season will have 3 sanctioned tournaments with a sanctioned finale event with some bigger prizes and higher stakes. (These finales are subject to attendance)

The first three events of the term are general tournaments while the final event is considered the finale. Each event tries to coincide with the current TCG season for some association, but don't be confused, this isn't league play, these are sanctioned tournaments! (you won't be confused)

Fall Term
September – Burmy Championship. Saturday September 24th at 12:45 in the afternoon: https://www.pokemon.com/us/account/tournament_id/11-09-000197/
October - Sorry, too many events this month!
November - Bianca Championship TCG, Bianca Championship VG. November 5th at 12 noon

Future dates are going to TBA due to unknown schedule of future premier events at our location. These events are not an alternative to the premier program. They are designed to be a spring-board to larger events, a testing platform for your current deck, and what the game is really about: having fun. Also remember that sanctioned non-premier events don't effect your premier rating in any way -plus, they count towards your player rewards!

I will be posting the details for the Burmy Championship shortly.

Our local league mascots get their own season and championship this month at the Jefferson Gym! all of our local Burmys, Carl, Lenny, and Homer, will be out and about for a fun three weeks while we wait for the next Play! Pokemon year to begin. This event will be modified-construction as opposed to unlimited like our two previous events. That means you may only play with cards from HeartGold and SoulSilver and on. This is the first event of the fall term for the 2011-2012 Charlottesville Championship Series. Please remember that you need a decklist for this event.

The event will be on Saturday, September 24th. Registration starts at 12:45PM and ends at 1:30PM.: https://www.pokemon.com/us/account/tournament_id/11-09-000197/

1st prize: 5 packs of Emerging Powers
2nd prize: 4 packs of Emerging Powers
3rd prize: 3 packs of Emerging Powers

Door prizes:

Carl, Lenny, and Homer: 1 pack of Emerging Powers if found
Black and White 60 card mini-portfolio

All first place winners will receive a great ball

Like before, as with all future CCS events, there will be a videogame side-event. The rules for that will be posted in the future.

There will be no event in October. The next event is scheduled for Saturday, November 5th. Details to follow.

Here is the next event for November. Actually, it will be two events!

It's the Charlottesville Bianca Championship! It will be held on Saturday November 5th at 12 noon at the Jefferson Gym. Actually, it's both a TCG and a VG event. Did you know that VG Events can be sanctioned? Well guess what chicken butt!?

The Fall Regional is coming up soon. Did you play test your deck enough? No? You did? Not satistfied though? No? Whatever your answer, the Bianca Championship will be a great way to hone your deck before the big event the following week! The event is modified constructed. Carl wanted me to run this unlimited. Could you imagine?

For this event you will need a modified constructed deck, a deck list, and your player ID. If you have a DS with Black and White version bring that, too! There is a modified format for the video game. You can find those rules on our website as well.

Prizes for the TCG will be
1st place TCG: 5 boosters of Emerging Powers
2nd place TCG: 4 boosters Emerging Powers
3rd place TCG: 3 boosters Emerging Powers

Prizes for the VG event have not been determined yet. Sure, there will be some boosters, but there isn’t certainty on how many. The usual door prizes will be given out. This time around however they won’t be announced -a little suspense building can be fun. Of course the Burmy will probably be on the lose again. Also keep your eyes peeled for Jerry, our local Oshawott. He isn’t a trouble maker, but he does enjoy an audience.

As an announcement let it be known that the new set ‘Noble Victors’ will not be considered legal in the modified format during the time of this event. Bummer!
