Claydol in Blazeray

Is Claydol really needed in Luxape or Blazeray? I think that a 2-1 Uxie X is pretty good and might be enough on its own? What do you think?

2-1 uxie is sufficient, as far as i could tell. If you get a cyrus fast, you should be good to go.

Claydol improves the consistency of Blazeray a considerable amount. However, there is the problem of running some Bebe's Searches to get out Claydol. Claydol also yells "KILL ME! I ONLY HAVE 80 HP SO BRING ON GARCHOMP C LV. X FOR AN EASY OHKO!!!" when you are facing ANY deck that has Garchomp C. I would run it if I could find the space.

Are you seriously not running Bebe's in your SP deck anyways? Deafen/Spiritomb, hellooooooooo.

Anyway, against every Stage 2 deck, Claydol is ridiculous. You get the disruption of SPs and the consistency of Claydol. Why you wouldn't run it is beyond me.

Against SP, Claydol will either a) Get you a new hand, and get shot down in a turn or two by Garchomp, distracting your opponent from your Garchomp/Luxray/Blaziken on your bench or b) Force a couple Sprays before meeting the same end.

Seems good to me.

By the way, more than half of what you put into play is Garchomp C Lv.X bait. That's no excuse, because if that point was true, we wouldn't use any SPs except for Palkia and Dialga, and maybe Infernape.

And he takes TWO spaces next to the two Bebe's that you should already be running. I'm sure you can find that space, because hundreds of other players have.

Losing a Claydol and focusing your whole draw on a 1-1 line will hurt you far more than Garchomp C Lv X sniping most stuff. Obviously you can't just not play anything which has 80hp or less, but it's a risk of being that reliant on something that is so easy to KO.

Claydol really is worth it in Blazeray. Even more if you play a Blaze PL tech.

The thing is, you tend to play Ninetail's for Mewtwo, which I think all good lists should play. So you play 1-2 Bebe's Search for that. With Spiritomb about you should 100% play 2 Bebe's. So you may as well play a 1-1 Claydol.

Simples.

Are you seriously still arguing about Claydol in SP decks?

I thought maybe some of you had figured this stuff out by now.

Depends on your meta really. I like Uxie better, but that may be just me.

A good way to do it, is to run 1-1 Claydol, and 1 Uxie. That way, you get a little of everything.

Its really a personal thing. I alternate from 2-1 Uxie to a 1-1 Uxie and a 1-1 Claydol. In a heavy BlazeRay area, I'd steer away because they'll just "Luring Flame" it and give themselves a turn to set up and kill it. Otherwise you should be fine and with the exception of a bad hand, I'm fine with Garchomp killing Claydol, because he's dropped two energies to not damage either of my main attackers. In short, I've played LuxApe and BlazeRay with and without Claydol and have done well with both.

Well for one tournament I went with 2-1 Uxie and 1-1 Claydol, it was very consistent and didn't have a problem. The next day I used a 2-1 Uxie and no Claydol but with a Ninetales tech. It was consistent as well and I prefer the Uxie only version. Thanks everyone for the help, but I think I have made my decision!

I prefer no Claydol in SP, period. Even in Dialga, I'd rather rely on absurd luck to draw into Special Metals than rely on Claydol. Uxie >>>> Claydol :)

I'd much rather rely on Claydol, than to rely on absurd luck. I mean really absurd luck or the consistency you get with a claydol? Hmmm I think I'll take the Claydol. Claydol makes BlazeRay so much more consistent it's really a no brainer. Of course it's not neccesary, but what really is? Is cyrus neccesary in sp? No you could always run potion!

Both are valid options in different builds, but sometimes Uxie is the superior choice. I'm running a 2-1 Uxie, 1 VS Seeker, 1 Cynthias engine and am 8-1 with SP so far in Cities. It definately works.

Both are good, but one is sometimes better than the other in a certain build.

Plenty of success has been made out of the both of them in SP decks.

Sometimes there is very little difference but one just gets it.

The thing about Claydol is - that's at least what I'm doing - that it gets so easily in your way if your opponent plays Luxray and Garchomp in the same Deck.

I fully agree with all the japanese people I talked to at Worlds; Claydol isn't worth it, except for Dialga. It doesn't speed you up - it rather slow you down.

I suggest 2-1 Uxie and at least 1 Cynthia. That's at least how I play the SP.
