Yo prime, just saying you were beaten out by...oh, 12 posts?

@ Poisonmaster: All of Stormfront should burn as soon as possible. Stormfront really set the downward spiral in motion after Legends Awakened started things up with Kingdra and Uxie. Sableye, Machamp, Gengar, Pokedrawer+, Luxury Ball, it will be a relief to see all of them GONE.

I agree that not all the cards from Stormfront were healthy for the format, but the amount of cards that were playable from that set was incredible. Considering the sets we've had recently, I'd like to see something similar again.

Well, "playable" does depend on what else is currently in the cardpool. While Stormfront might have had some awesomely playable cards in it, they were able to do so by releasing cards that were just too powerful... (Since someone mentioned DBZ already in the thread...) The power levels of those cards were over 9000. It appears to me that COL is another step in an attempt to reduce the level of the card game down to a more manageable one. While this means we'll get crappy card releases for a bit, it also means that eventually when the format is shifted to, say, HGSS-on the game will have slowed down to allow a larger pool of decks.

Of course, Lost World is probably counterproductive to that goal, and for all I know PCL could release more "SP" cards in a couple of sets. Only time will tell.

To weigh in on the remove from the game issue, in the Dragon Ball Z CCG they didn't release a card that could retrieve from the remove from game pile until the very last set, and even then it was only limit 1 per deck. That seemed to ruin the problem of a vital card being removed whilst not cheapening the remove from game concept, the card that did it was itself removed so it was only possible once per game. I think something like this would work in Pokemon, maybe a trainer with a Luxury Ball-like effect where you can't do it if you already have a copy of it in the Lost Zone. On the downside it'd become a card that almost every deck would have to run in a meta with Lost World in it, effectively making deck sizes 59. I was really hoping that a card like this would've been made for CL.

if it is a trainer it will be abused with junk arm just like lux ball

Bolded above for to clarify... he did say that the car itself would be placed in the lost zone after use...

^ What would be interesting is if Pokemon had a similar card with a lost zone retreval effect but as a Pokemon such as Giratina instead of a trainer. It would be searchable, but the trade off is that it would take bench space and that you might start with it ... and since it was a Pokemon it would still count towards the lost zone win condition if you used it to get something back.

Kinda defeats the point. But there will always be a calling for such cards as long as LX ia a relvenat game mechanic. I like that things get lost in the Lost Zone, though not that it wins you the game xD
