The TRAINERS IN GENERAL - SUPPORTERS section should probably be removed, no? It seems to be there only to call out the following statement:

On the first turn of the game, the starting player may not play any Supporter cards from their hand. This rule was introduced in Japan earlier this year, and will provide greater balance to how the game is played. (Jul 30, 2004 PUI Rules Update)

Since that statement could be misleading, perhaps the section should be removed and the following added to the TRAINERS IN GENERAL section.

Beginning with the "Diamond & Pearl" expansion, the player who goes first may not play ANY Trainer cards (including Fossils), Supporter cards, nor Stadium cards from his or her hand on his or her first turn. (May 3, 2007 PUI Rules Team)"
