Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

My cousin is interested in playing the TCG competitively. What competitive (fairly cheap) deck should I introduce him to first? I was thinking Durant, because the strategy is fairly simple. Also, how soon should I introduce him to teams ('a bunch of friends who share cards, ideas, and playtest together')?

Durant isn't the best deck for a new player imo.

The strategy is just so untypical of a Pokemon deck. Sure, they'll learn to play Durant easily enough, but they'll learn nothing else and will have to start from scratch once the deck stops being good.

Something like Reshiphlosion is competitive, cheap, and more useful for teaching purposes.

I dunno what you mean by 'introduce him to teams'. If you mean 'a bunch of friends who share cards, ideas, and playtest together', then the sooner they join in with that the better.
