damaged old cards worthless?

Just wondering do people even buy damaged (e.g. slightly whitened edges) cards in the first place? If they are old cards, probably collectors would buy them, but collectors would expect mint condition, meaning no one would want an old damaged card anymore?

Not unless it's an extra rare card that's very hard to get. Even then, not so much.

but don't expect a lot of $ for it

I wouldn't say worthless. If you have a lot, you could sell them as a lot or multiple random lots on eBay listed as in poor condition. Trust me, kids love stuff like that and parents will pay.
