Strategy: Get Darmanitan, Gardevoir, and Vileplume up and start hitting with DarMAXitan. Questioning whether trainer lock is needed in this deck.

Thanks in advance!

Ithink your not going to need 3 pokemon communication ba cause of Vileplume in that you want to get him up as soon as possible, I would decrease it to two and for your heavy ball count I dont think youll need (also because of Vileplume) two maybe just a single copy would be good hope you found my advice helpful. Otherwise I really like this deck since it's got potential against big EX's mainly Mewtwo.

thanks for your input, but i feel the pokemon communication and ball engine is needed to search out darmanitains before going under trainer lock. The one thing I still want to know is if trainer lock is necessary.

Does anyone have ideas if I didn't use trainer lock.

Well mr g. I dont think trainer lock is exactly necessary in the deck but it certainly is helpful the deck will most likely have the same issues the truth did and although you beat matthew (as did i) this weekend you may want a way to speed energy flow (trode emboar etc..) because if the darmaxitan are getting killed every turn ur gonnafall behind eventually

I wouldn't run trainer lock. You're gonna wanna catcher out a Mewtwo with no energy on it and one shot it. If anything I'd add a Mewtwo and run a 3-1-2 Gothitelle. Drop your Cheren for Catchers and this is gonna be pretty solid. I might build it myself.

Thanks for your opinions, but emboar will get catchered up if there is no trainer lock, and for gothitelle i like it but it can easily get one-shoted. I will take both of your ideas into consideration.

i'm considering building the same type of deck but i';m uncertain whether psychic is the best way to play the deck. My current build is using Emboar but I'm also considering psychic or possibly electric as an alternative to energy acceleration? any thoughts on this?

I play tested with emboar its not good cause it gets catchered up. And i don't know about electric it could work but, i like trainer lock better.

I'm running a similar deck, but with Mewtwo EX x 2 to compliment D-max. & without the Fliptinis. Ran it with Reshiboar and it went 3-1 at last night's tournament :)

Trainer lock = Ace

im working on a similar deck, different style though, instead of the trainer lock i went with a bench lock (Dittobolic) to try and force them to play their heavy hitters, then catcher them for the possable ohko, and 1 or 2 blackbelts incase you fall behind in prizes.

To me it feels like your playing this deck just to counter Mewtwo variants. You should try and replace something (Vileplume line?) to help against other decks. Thunderdome, Reshiphlosion, and 6 corners would seem to give you a tough time.

I had built the same deck with the following variations:

-1-1 Darmanitan
-1 Fliptini
-1 N

+2 Switch
+1 Pokemon Communication
+1 DCE

Looking for deck weakness now....

Cheers
