I've been trading for a few years via mail and the internet, and today I encountered my first attempted ripoff.
For now I'll keep the 'gym user annonymous, but the point of this thread is to find out what you guys do in the case of a ripoff.
The kid and I agreed on a rather large trade, and I agreed to send first after a fellow gymer (and highly trusted friend) gave me the a-okay on the trader. So Wednesday before last I sent first. 2-day priority mail, as we agreed. He was going to send his out the day he recieved mine using the same method. Friday comes, I get a confirmation that he's recieved mine. I figure I'll get mine as late as Tuesday. Well, Tuesday came and went. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. No cards. So Sunday (yesterday) I confront him on the internet, and he admits to trying to rip me off.
Today I'll call his parents about this ordeal and get reimbursement for the priority shipment as well as the 5 cards I sent out (which included a Shining Charizard), and get all this overnighted to me. And, in the case that any of the cards are damaged, I'm going to demand payment for my damaged cards going by a Beckett price guide.
I'm not going to press charges on the kid, although I'm sure this qualifies as mail fraud. This I'll bring up to the kid and his parents.
Now that my story is over, what ripoff attempts have you guys encountered? How did you deal with these dillemas?
