You finish with the place of whoever beat you at the time they beat you. so if you were 64th seed in top 64, then beat 1st, then beat 32nd, and lost to 16th, you'd finish 16th. It's possible 16th could go on to win the event, that wouldn't affect your final standing.

No you finish based on your standings. If you were first seed going in and lost in top 32 you would be 17th. If you were 5th seed and lost in top 32 and 1st 3rd 4th won you would be 18th. etc.
