Difference between "Pokémon-ex" and "Pokémon EX"?

Pokemon ex has the letters in lower case and it is pronounced "Poke-aa-mon echs".
Pokemon EX has the letters in upper case and it is pronounced "Poke-aa-mon eee echs".
In my area, we all said pokemon-ex as "Poke-aa-mon eee echs". Mmaybe it is a regional thing. Wasn't there a thread on here a long time ago about how people pronounce it?

The news release does not appear to think pokemon-ex and pokemon-EX are different:
...get prepared for the return of Pokémon-EX cards in the fourth expansion of the Black & White series: Pokémon TCG: Black & White ‹ Next Destinies!
It says they are returning, as in coming back.

Reshiram-EX/Emboar/FlipTini. Calling it now.

Calling it what exactly? It 2 HKO's Mewtwo for 4 energy and a flip, while MEwtwo will do the same back for a DCE, with Celebi or maybe EEl as the biggest "setup" Pokemon in the deck as compared to Emboar. I'd call it mediocre myself.

As far as the topic goes, i dont think it really matters. There just isnt a calling for unlimited, so while i do think the capitilization change making it a new card is incorrect, since it has no critical backlash, i'm not really inclined to care. We'll see if the decision sticks, but if not.... oh well? Is there something that is looking to be achieved by the differentiation that i missed?

Primes were more of a rarity than a gameplay gimmick, since they didn't actually have any special rules. That taken into account, there's only one gimmick mechanic per block.

Opps; well, I'm sure y'all get my point. They should stick with gimmicks only if they intend to KEEP using them forever-and-ever.

Consider when Darkness and Metal-types were added to the game, as well as Supporters and Stadiums; since then all these card types have become an important and regular part of the game. This is why I'm extremely wary of the new Dragon-type... what guarantee do we have that this isn't just some kind of gimmick or if the TCG WILL continue to use the Dragon-type forever-and-ever?

If anything, I can accept ex's/EX's as an important and regular part of the game, one akin to Planeswalkers in Magic. But they should really just stick with that. Heck, even Lv. X's too, just as long as they keep releasing new Lv. X's! And Primes--seeing as they technically were just "Regular" Pokemon--are a PERFECT example of how I think the game should be designed; they weren't some kind of gimmick, and if they were, at least they didn't add any new rulings or features to the game... all they did was just take what already existed in the game and did something fresh with it.

I think this is probably one of the big reasons why I felt drawn back into the game--the fact that HGSS-block and BW-block added nothing new to the game that didn't already exist... it was closer to what I feel is "good design" than the DP sets I saw. I can even except the return of EX-type simply because by doing so, Nintendo isn't adding anything new to the game but merely taking that which already exists and giving it a fresh coat of paint. No different than what Magic has been doing for the past near-twenty years. (Yes, I realize Pokemon TCG isn't Magic, but honestly, I look to Magic as card game design done right, and that there are plenty of lessons about Magic design which are perfectly applicable to the Pokemon TCG.)

However, the gameplay mechanic that Dark and Steel Pokemon had has recently been partially phased out (and perhaps completely phased out, if Special Darkness and Metal don't get reprinted soon). This is only speculation, since we know NOTHING about the Dragon type yet, but it may have been created in order to restore the gameplay mechanic that Dark and Steel lost when their basic energy were created.

Yet the Pokemon-Type doesn't appear to be going anywhere, even if the Special Energy versions of Darkness and Metal Energy vanish, the underlying types persist.
