Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Do rankings matter to you?

We REALLY dont want you to give up!! There is not enough good TO's and Prof's in Europe as it is without losing the ones we have got!! As you say you could always enter an older age group for now and then email PUI at a later date to edit the birth date for you. Not ideal I know but sometimes you gotta do what a man's gotta do!!

Ranking is important to me because I was the

(p.s. sorry for the large font but emotion is in message)
THE NUMBER ONE TRAINER IN THE STATE OF WYOMING!(by default)

anyways, I am now moved to colorado and I am in the number three spot. Ranking is important to me because one fun part (but should not be taken seriously) is the bragging rights! You can recongize that from my burst of emotion. Yeah, besides those vital invites, we have ratings and rankings so Pokemon Trainers can fulfill the common goal of becoming the number one Pokemon Master in the world! A hard goal but worth shooting for!

whether i play alot or just a little a ranking stats me as a player in the state of NY and says that i am among the great trainers of the USA

I rarely check it but when i do it makies me fell good knowing i am up there with some of the best trainers in the usa.

My opnion on it:
Ranking are important in pokemon because for the elite who like ratings it shwos where they are and it sets a list for many players to see who i where in their state and gives them a goal to surpass thier marks. I also like the idea of ratings because it gives competition to a game like pokemon that is as fun as it is for competition.

Well cuz im from nh i dont get to go to many premier/sanctioned events and i only have one event basically to show for it....
Should that exclude from getting an invite to worlds?
Because I'm sure if i had like 4 or 5 events under my sleeve Im sure I'd be in the top 16 or even top 30.
The rankings are a joke imo. They are for those people that are close to a location where they can have ample chances to play in sanctioned events. Even if they go 3-2, their rank is probable to go up. And If you can do that about 15 times, you're obviously going to get a high ranking, even if your skill level is mediocre.

I think when the people at Pokemon-tcg.com look at who will get invitations to the worlds. They should not just look at their rank, but how many events that they played in, who their opponents were and how they fared against them. So that some of us better skilled players don't get overlooked, because of their "inferior" rankings due to their location or accessibility to events.

And another thing that I don't understand is that I used to be ranked like last week and i logged onto My Pokemon and i looked at New Hampshire's Ranks, which i was #1 in and there was no ones and it said you are not ranked within the search. And the same with global and United States. I dont understand this.

While I KINDA agree with Pokey, here's what I think.

I used to play in a tournament that was 15 minutes from my house EVERY week. Then I got a job, and that location closed down. I hardly played in anything other than major tourneys, as League just wasn't an availability because of work, and York was like an hour away. Currently, I only play in larger scale tourneys, because I am far too busy for League anymore. I think that looking at someone's ranking for the appearance of their "skill" is not a very good indicator. I think that one should look at the concentration of talent in a particular state or area that someone is in.

Face it, some players beat the snot out of less-talented players, and get huge rankings. And some really great players can only go to a few events because of location, time, or other varibles.

It is unfortunate though, that only the players that can frequent tournaments more than others have a better chance at earning invites through T16 Ranking. However, if you look another way at if you are "skilled but unable to attend" many events, just win or EARN an invite or other assorted prizes.

This topic is becoming mixed up with the ideal of "What Does It Mean to be a Good Trainer/Player?" POP Rankings, may show how you stack against players that CAN GET TO TOURNAMENTS. Call it personal preference, but being #1 Global in that kind of system doesn't come close to becoming a World Champion amongst your peers in hard and hell fought tournaments. THAT's what competition is all about.

(Note: I do fit into both catagories. I only play in major tourneys, so my tournament attendence is lower compared to most others, but I am currently 35th Global overall, and 15th Global 15+)
