Dragon-type symbol revealed

I was hoping someone translated the story incorrectly and they meant they were only making more dragon Pokemon, nothing new sorta thing, but I guess not...

Not really looking forward to it, unless they errata all previous dragon type Pokemon, which won't happen.

Hmmm... I'm wondering if we'll get a basic Dragon energy. When we got new types last time, it was years before we had anything but Special energy cards for them. Considering the possible brokenness of the new Dragon-type EX cards, it'd be a good way to balance them if their energy are limited to 4 per deck. (Or 4 per different energy, if they give us different ones.) Definitely looking forward to seeing what they do. :)

true we could only use 4 dragon energy if its special only ayame, but be aware rainbow and the upcoming prism energy should technically give dragon energy as well so we'd be maxxed at 12 dragon energy which would be more then enough (even 8 from just rainbow would be decent)

I dunno whether I'd be bummed or happy about there only being a special dragon energy. On the one hand, it would make dragon decks really hard to play. On the other hand, an energy with the effect "When the pokemon this energy card is attached to attacks, flip a coin. If heads, the defending pokemon is now knocked out." sounds epic.

I am drooling over this. I can't wait to see a Dialga with that Energy type!

Also, I hope Dragon gets its own unique special energy like :dark: and :metal: did when they debuted.

Yes, but it's also a royal pain to get special energy back from the discard.

With so many typings coming out... Are we going to see more dual typing and dual weakness like we did when EX were popular before? Legends were kind of poking at that for a while.

^ I'm speculating that the new Dragons will have no weakness or resistance. After all, Druddigon from NV doesn't have weakness. Hydreigon has the Fighting Weakness but you could argue that it is Dark Type (whose typical weakness IS Fighting), while Druddigon is. colorless.

Or, they'll just be weak to themselves, much like many Psychic-type Pokemon.

Looking at the symbol, this is what I suspect the card would look like; a mix of 45% Fire-type, 45% Lighting-type, with a 10% touch of Darkness type to darken it up a bit and give it a little it a "golden-green" sheen to it.

...but frankly, I think adding another type to the game is pointless. Sure Dragons are weak to Raticate, but that's what makes the TCG different than the video game. Technically Raticate is also resistant to Mewtwo, but no one really complained about that....

I really shouldn't complain though... I made my own Dragon-type cards back in the day too: http://www.fakecard.com/fakes/pokemon/blanks/custom/dragon.neo.classic-basic.jpg

Looks really great!! Can't wait to see this on cards. It has that feeling Dragons types should give you. That kind of 'elite' status. Glad they didn't screw it up. Looks pretty sick...

I mean yeah the types representing multiple types is always going to make inaccuries compared with the video games, it's always been that way. Fire weak to Ice, birds weak to Rock etc. Let's just not pick on Raticate here.

Also does anyone think the color is a bit too close to Lightning/Fighting?

Well, if it's supposed to be Gold-colored, then technically it would be a little close to Lightning/Fighting's colors... but I think it'll lean a little more towards green, hue-wise, just to make sure it doesn't get mistaken for Lightning for Fighting.

Or more to the point, if Metal-type is sort of "silver"-y, then Dragon-type will prolly look a little "gold"-y in the same way. Kinda like the cards were given a little gold sheen to them...

Very interesting. I don't know how I feel about the addition of a single new type. I personally would have preferred Ice or Ghost, but Dragon could be cool. The icon just seems...out of place compared to the others. I could just be me and not wanting to change.

I wonder if it will stick around past this set as a permanent part of the TCG.
