In a best of 1 tournament, two masters, Player A and Player B are in the middle of their 3rd round of 5. Player B picks up Player As deck to shuffle it. Upon returning the deck, Player B drops the deck on Players As side of the board, which includes the cards in Player As hand which are on the playmat. This ends with Player A inadvertently shuffling their hand into the deck, and an argument begins between the two players.
As a judge, what would be the appropriate response in this situation? And what would be the best way to resolve it?
Alternatively, if Player A had called a judge before picking up their deck and shuffling their hand into it, how would you have proceeded as a judge?
I would love to hear other peoples thoughts on this.
