Here at a prerelease and you can opt for a theme deck instead of packs

Why would you?

Six packs at $4 apiece (average) is $24. Theme decks are rarely if ever more than $20. Plus, you don't have a chance of pulling an EX/FA/Shiny, all of your cards are fixed.

EDIT: Oh, theme deck challenge, or JUST a theme deck? OP didn't say...

Wasnt about it being a good idea or not (we didn't take one, but some kids were delighted to, makes it easier to "build a deck"). I was simply sharing what the deck looked like and consisted of.

Plus, if we're going by value, you do get 4 packs with the deck.

Actually, if you look at the backside of the Garchomp theme deck, the "good" Garchomp is printed, even though you don't actually get that version in the theme deck.

If it WERE the good Garchomp, with 2 of them, that might be a decent choice over boosters.

This makes me think they put the good Garchomp in the themedeck, then decided to change it. What a dirty move, but money talks.

Or the art people just used the wrong one...like the Keldeo box. Doesn't always have to be nefarious.
Or they had intended to include the good Garchomp/Hydreigon until the Japanese tournament reports showed how dominate they are, so they made a last minute change.
