you guys are probaly right, as far as more then 4 sets.. That is what i assumed, becuase the only peroson ive beable to talk to about this was they guy that i got my set off ebay from (we all know how reliable those guys can be  )

i do remember that now, yes they were printed BEFORE expedition

and they don only say pokemon on the bottom

there were only 10 (i forgot that i had doubles of some, and most of the time i only count my stack of screw cases that these reside in, so thats where i got the 13 number from)

they are NOT as rare as prerelease raichu
they are NOT as rare as upside down WB mewtoo
they are NOT as rare as english VS
they are NOT as rare as english finnalist tropical wind

i would place a complete set rarer then a set of semi, quater, and top16 tropical wind cards

(ps, who ever has the english VS set, please email me.....SERIOUS money could be exchanged for them  )

How "serious" would the money be? And which ones?
A. 0-200
B. 200-500
C. 500-800
D. 800+

You do know the English Vs Set is valued at over 10,000....
Drew

this comming from the same person that thinks a wailordEX is worth 30, a dark dragonite error is worth 150 (one of your current auctions, and i just bought one for 50!) the same person who charges 16 to ship a SINGLE box of cards? :thumb:

The quality on those cards is terrible. I'm glad they're only samples :) But then again it would be pretty neat to have something as rare as that, even if there is more than four of each >____^

I'll give you a near mint base Chansey and a jungle primeape for a set?

No Need to Flame Me...
If you all dont remember there was someone on the board who had his set appraise and i think they valued it at 10,000+ when were we discussing this like 6 months ago... And Yes i do think wailord is worth that mucn because i can sell it for that much... but i never said that i thought draggy was that much... i am just trying to sell it for that much... i am also letting you know that that is the actually shipping cost so PLEASE BACK OFF... i didnt do anything to you for you to FLAME ME OR TARGET ME...

Just because a card sells lower one day than it did some other day does not invalidate the higher "value".
With collectibles you have to be aware of a range of value for a card.

Also, eBay is more like a wholesale value that a retail value for cards.
If there are very few of a thing available, the eBay value approaches the retail value. However, once the quantity being sold increases, you start seeing a discounted price winning on eBay. For example, take a pack of cards. That has a retail value of $3.29 or $3.49. But would you buy a pack on eBay for that much? No. You're used to getting the wholesale price off eBay for packs like that.
Similarly, when you get a holo card for $1.00 on eBay, that does not mean the retail value of that holo is $1.00. It could be retailed for $5.00 is some shop. Same with the Wailord ex. That sells regularly on eBay for $20-30. If sold in a shop, you'd probably see a $50 price tag on the thing. You don't have to be willing to pay that much yourself. But obviously, some people are willing to do it!

Sorry I've been away folks. Spent the last two days building my new desktop.

Anyway, thanks a lot for the info and scans everyone! But now the real problem is actually finding copies. Some of you are saying there are only 4 copies of this elusive Pikachu out there, others are saying that there were hundreds, probably even thousands. So who's got the real scoop?

Drew - I'm not trying to flame you, but which shipping company do you go through that it costs $16 to ship a single box? As I'm also a seller on Ebay, I know that thru USPS and UPS, a single booster box could be shipped within the US easily for $10 or less (regardless of buyer's location). Not sure about FedEX though as I never use them..

I would assume that you'd charge an extra "handling fee" to cover your seller and store fees..because I would as I know Ebay charges an arm and a leg

It is not 4 and it is not hundreds or thousands. It is more than 4 and the real number is unknown. From time to time try search on e-bay "pokemon sample" and maybe you'll be lucky. Maybe the guy above with 13 of them (including doubles) has 1 Pikachu for sale.

Wow a lot of Pikachus!

D'y'know, Deoxys was the first time there has been two consecutive sets without a Pikachu and/or Raichu in them.

That's interesting to note.

And yes, there are certainly a lot of Pikachus. One day I just said to myself "Hmm. Pikachu is the mascott of Pokemon. Why not collect his cards?" I figure one day they'll be collectable to (1) Pikachu collectors, (2) Pokemon collectors, and/or (3) Pokemon card collectors. 20 years from now people will pay some serious bucks for a complete mint set, wouldn't you think?

Indeed. It might be a nice collector's item to get ahold of every english language Pikachu. I'm interested to know what these missing 6 are, because I can't think of any missing from that list.

Is there a no "e" Sandstorm one or something? I hear newer print runs of Sandstorm have lost the barcodes.

Well, although I'm not up on EVERY Pokemon card set out there, if there IS an English VS set, I believe that accounts for 2 Pikachus (assuming there's an RH). And there could also be 4 from English VS since VS had a 1st Edition Print in Japan (I have a Japanese 1st Ed. VS Pikachu). However, that still leaves 2.
