Electivire L.X – Lightning – HP120
Level Up

Poke-Body: Shocking Tail
As long as Electivire is your Active Pokemon, whenever your opponent attaches an Energy from his or her hand to 1 of his or her Pokemon, place 2 damage counters on that Pokemon.

[L][C] Pulse Barrier: 50 damage. Discard all of your opponent’s Stadium cards and Pokemon Tool cards in play. If you do, ignore all effects of attacks, including damage, done to Elevire during your opponent’s next turn.

Weakness: Fighting (x2)
Resistance: Steel (-20)
Retreat: 3

Pulse barrier says discard tools and stadiums. If you do, electivire cant be damaged or effected. It dosnt say if there are none in play the effect dosnt work, so dose this mean you can just keep on going without getting damaged or effected? (at least until the opponent plays a reversal or energy removal.) Clearly Im wrong, but I think the text could be clearer. But if I AM right, pop will need to make an eratta.

'If you do' implies there had to be some in play. If you did discard a Tool or Stadium the yeah you get the effect, if you didn't then there is no effect.

It can't get any clearer on the card...

Heh, anyone else remember the post about lunasol? And how it would RUIN the game? I didn't see it having much of an impact :D

It is nowhere near unbetable, even if it is very powerful. It has x2 weakness to fightning and it prevents effects and damage if it discards any trainers and if he attacks he discards all trainers so if there are 5 trainers on your opponent's side of the field you can't discard 2 or 3 trainers so you can prevent effects in the nest turn too. you have to discard them all, and if you play him your opponent will not play more trainers.

remember that there are no unbeatable decks or cards.

It only gets the effect if you can discard some cards.
It is IDENTICAL to Ancient Technical Machine Ice if I remember correctly, and there WAS a ruling made on that.

Yes. Thank you torchic. Thats the kind of clear answer I was looking for. By the way, I KNOW THE EFFECT DOSNT WORK THEN! I simply found it little unclearly written compared to past cards with similair effects.

going along with Moss had to say about Lunarock back in the day, this card makes stadiums even more unplayable, but not impossible the answer will come later. But the thing I like is that it evens out CC. So decks like Delta that could afford to play CC will think about it twice before doing so, at least against this card.

Now here is the answer to the effect, warp point or cyclone NRG. Warp point is already very good, and cyclone can be a decent tech.

Lol, love the Moss' topic. But Electivire isn't broken at all, it's X2 Weak to fighting makes it worse than Infernape Lv. X. IMO and LatiLock can stop its body also. It's playable but not near as broken as lunasol...

swift should also be able to get through it.

Yeah, R-gons Swift attack (goes right through it). just use it 2x times, and its KO'd. Plus it flygon resistence, so his pulse barrier does 20 damadge, lol

I'd like to see its mario match-up thoe, electrivire discards there heavy use of tools and such, but electrivire has 2x weakness

The fact that the attack is dependent on your opponent's ability to stop using tools and stadiums(which are not essential to any known deck.) while Vire X is out makes it unplayaable. At best this card is a good anti censsation crystal.

This really proves how poor our foresight into the future is. Moss, arguably one of the best players in the world, thought that the Lunasol of Legend Maker would ruin the game and lead to fast decks becoming more popular. But what ended up happening was that BLS popped up shortly afterwards and the metagame became clogged with setup decks.

I remember a thread talking about why Flygon EX d should be banned.

Maybe we should all just wait until battle roads to make these sorts of judgements.

No way. This thing is unplayable with out Dragy to back up the Regular Electivire.
It's got a really nice Body though. (Not like that :p)
