Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

ELECTRIC BUGaloo (Breaking down Yanmega/Magnezone) UPDATED for the NEW SEASON!

With 1 spray splash each turn, yanmega 2HKO's Donphan. I DID write Kingdra is a staple and will win the matchup :p

That's true, but how often do you think you'll have a kingdra out turn 2 with a yanmega as the active doing damage? If built and played correctly, Donphan can consistently be ready to roll turn 2. That deck's strength lies in it's speed and consistency. I feel a single stage 1 is so much easier to achieve T2 than a stage 1 AND a stage 2, especially if the Kingdra line is a 1-1-1 or a 1-0-1 tech, like this deck. Even with a 2-1-2 line, a T2 Kindgra is not a common feat when your main goal is to get Magnezone out.

Great discussion BTW. I appreciate your (and everybody else's) opinions on the build.

And if your YanmegaZone is built correctly, T2 Kingdra shouldnt be an issue. Even if stage 1's is easier to achieve it doesnt mean that it is the best when it is set up. yanmega can potentially stall out Donphan for long enough to get Kingdra on the board (t2-t3) and by then the matchup is extremely simple.

Is 4 Yanma needed when your only using 3 Yanmega? Same with Magnemite.

The purpose of 4 Yanma is because its the BEST start in the deck. Free retreat and it evolves into your opening game attacker. Tons of versatility so people play 4-3 instead of 3-3.

By the way the HARDEST part of stage 1s right now is the people teching reshiram, but even then it's easy enough to work around. I personally enjoy reversalling it up and sniping around the blasted thing...

Here's a question. Ever thought of Elekid over tyrogue?

I have, but I'm really against baby's altogether considering they're all but guaranteed to be KO'ed one way or another. Either by a Yanmega or a failed heads on Sweet Sleeping Face. Personally, I only tech a single cleffa because of how absolutely BEAST its attack is when you're in a jam or if you have a bad start. In that case, I'd would risk losing a single prize if it means I can get myself out of a potentially devastating top deck situation and make that prize up in the next few turns. Even then, any more than 1 would be too risky for my tastes with the popularity of Yanmega this upcoming tournament.

kingdra is not required but is good. Kingdra suffers in the mirror match because of its weakness to Lightning and is a free prize on a reversal. PP are better for the mirror match but Kingdra gives you a better chance against the field.

Um Kingdra makes the mirror match. Yanmega snipes for 50 to knock out yanmas and magnemites. If you reversal a magneton then you can kill it with yanmega. Magnezone only has to lost zone 1 energy to knock out yanmega.

Yanmega alone has scared me off babies pretty hard core. I mean honestly if you're playing a deck with mega in it, once the baby hits the field its a free prize for them eventually...

I've switched cleffa for manaphy in my build. I'm seriously debating dropping tyrogue but i dont know yet.

At the time of the article's writing I swore by the 2 Cleffa/1 Tyrogue rule. Not anymore. :nonono:

How did you get on the front page? Your matchups seem right...I thought making them up was part of the FP requirement...

Congrats on a good article.

In my own personal opinion i do not like dual ball i love 4 collector for 1st turn starts. i would also recommend more supporters. maybe like oak and bump up copycat to 4. I just do not like the dual ball because i do not like flipping coins which is why i am excited for catcher :p

@POKEMONS
Speaking as a player who played this deck at cities last format, PONT is not very useful here. Trust me, with those high counts of Judge and Copycat, PLUS the magnetic draw, you have very few issues with drawing cards. The "weak spot" of this deck is the fact that all the basics in it have only 50 hp, and the fact that the "big guy" falls to fighting types (ie donphan) easily. That is what the kingdra tech is for, donphan, and mirror, to allow snipes of opposing magnemites/yanmas/horseas and to make yanmega a one energy ko for zone.

I also don't know about your 'version' of the deck, but mine has a pretty good matchup vs reshiboar and ZPS. (at least 60-40)
Also IMO with all the mirror and stage one decks out there kingdra (1-0-1 or 2-1-2) is a necessity.

This deck is pretty good but pokemon reversal can really screw this deck up and not say pokemon catcher wont ethier.....But yes this is an amazing deck.

i know noticed
what kind of noob i am Oo
if been playing that deck over and over and right before champoinship i trew the deck out lol

yeah but this deck with pokemon reversal screws others up as well lol and has good recovery because it can actually draw a good number of cards in a turn

Nice article.

I played nearly the same list for Nats, except i played:
-1-1 Zoroark (1-1 is inconsistent)
+1 Zekrom + Shaymin (This combo late game, won me like 2 games)
- 1 DCE -1 Rescue
+2 Lightning
This helped with Zekrom, and getting the energies out faster.
-2 Plus Power
+1 Pokemon Collector +1 Pokemon Reversal

It was something like that.
Also, i don't remember what else i had in, but i only played one Cleffa, not two.

This list... And the name... I feel nauseous.

Drop the dual ball, drop the zoroark, drop the double colorless. Make the Magnezone and yanmega lines thicker.

Drop 2 Rescue for 2 more lightning.

That should help a TON.

I gave you a 5/5 solely because of your Electric Boogaloo reference.

Very Solid deck, there are soo many techs that can change this decks matchups. Naturally, I won't divulge them for secret purposes, but very reasonable matchups. A fairl solid/consistant build. Very deserving of front page, this list will help net deckers tremendously.

I tried using that exact set up against my friends using a donchamp and a reshiflosion and i went 1-9 the one was of a scoop. This list is very well done i'm gonna be making changes soon.
