Energy Exchanger: THE THREAD

Well. here's the thread for the discussion of Energy Exchanger, as RA told us to make one for EE in general... so... here it is.

I'm gonna play Sablelock for states - do you think EE is good in it at all?

It really depends on how many you run. I can see how it could be really helpful, switching out darks or warps for DCE's in order to dragon rush. I think 2 would be good in Sablelock.

Yeah... I'll probably play 1 in there to get DCEs and SP darks.

But are you in WA? Plus, Sablelock has a decent matchup vs. VileGar...

If you find yourself running a deck with, both, warp and DCE in it, then a couple of energy exchangers may be game changing.

^
Yeah. I'm playing it cuz I like disruption, it does better than most decks vs. trainer lock, its quick, and it counters LostGar well.

I think 1 or 2 should go in any Sp deck, Especially DialgaChomp and Sablelock, and if you run Blaziken Tech, all the more reason to run EE.

What kind of Sablelock are you playing, that you play Warp Energy?
If you play it with 3-4 Smeargle then Energy Exchanger is not needed, but if you play them because you play Giratina then definitly try out 1-2 Exchangers although I don't think that you'll find room for them....

Nah, I play 4 Sableye 1 Smeargle. I play 4 DCE and 2 reg. dark, 3 spec. dark. I don't play Tina.

lol I use the same line of theese cards (except I run 4 special darkness energies) xD
I don't have space in my deck for exchanger [I think]. If you want to see my list, just ask me.

Sablocks with strong Smeargle lines like to play them because they're fun and stuff. Allow more Portraits.

Honestly, I don't think the EE's are worth it. Sablelock should be pretty tight on space anyway. You should just max out consistency and be conservative with your DCE's

Those that support the use of EE's just like it because the card is fun to use and SEEMS to be great when you use it. However, if you bring yourself to replace it with like an exta collector or communication or whatever, you'll find that you won't miss it.

It isn't a bad card, but I just think the card space can be utilized more wisely.

Ok then the (1-2) Warps are needed, but not the Energy Exchanger....

Then it is (sry) stupid to play this 2 Energy Exchangers, because just playing 9 Energies in Sablelock doesn't work!!!!
remove your Energy Exchangers and put in another Dark SP and Dark Basic Energy!!!!

So for all those who don't know it, there are 3 versions of Sablelock that can be played:

1.) Sablelock aka Smearlock
3-4 Smeargle
1-2 Sableye
….

2 Warps

2.) Sablelock with Giratina
4 Sableye
1 Giratina
….

1-2 Seeker
1-2 Energy Exchanger
….

1-2 Warp Energy

3.) normal Sablelock
3-4 Sableye
0-1 Smeargle
….

I think a one-of Energy Exhchanger in Sableye is a decent call, but I've been largely unable to find the room for it. I would suggest trying it out (particularly if you have R, D, SPD, DCE, Warp, etc.), but be mindful not to cut it for other, more useful cards.

Sabelock is a deck that can be built and played MANY different ways.

People who PRACTICE with EEs in their build use them in game-changing ways.
They expect EEs to fall into their hand and they know how to palm an energy in anticipation to swich out to a DCE or Special dark etc..

YOU don't need them. People who don't practice with EEs have other fallback cards and other PREFERENCES.

Don't confuse a difference in preference to a difference in skillset.

I was running Dialga/Chomp and that has like 4 or more different types of energy:

1) Special Metal

2) Regular Metal

3) Regular Psychic

4) Warp Energy

5) Call Energy

6) Double Colorless Energy

And I ran 0 EE. For some reason I always kept running pretty quickly into my Sp. Metals which is really what that deck runs on. So personally I never felt the need to run EE. But it's not a terrible card.
