European Rating Invites - Countdown to June 7th!

For any problem I know that we must send corrupted file to Eric the webmaster... He is very rapid to solve any kind of problems with .tdf files.
Michael, please check if you have sent the file to the correct e-mail address...two weeks seems too much..
You guys were right, I hadn't updated the JR or SR yet. I updated the SR now, but I'll do the JR later. They're not that interesting anymore, and I have to finish my essay tonight
NOT very interesting? Whatever do you mean? The suspense is killing me! My son and his grandparents would be very interested to see the updated Juniors list!

It's almost impossible the get a correct list of JR. To many NOIR to keep good track of the invites.

I asked if Kristel is going to use her invite (don't know if she will be on staff this year).
I hope she will also use the NOIR option if she isn't using her invite.
BUT
Can you ask those Norway SENIORS to do the same if they don't use their invite.
There are several Seniors just a little below the current last invite who might use an invite.
This request is also for other agegroups, if you are not using your invite, give others the options.
I would be nice if most EU zone invites are going to be used.

AFAIK, all norwegian Seniors are using their invite, maybe except Stian SN(Or NS maybe?)

Yes, I know you had 3rd/4th place playoffs, and I know it sounds ridiculous not to have them, but TOs were NOT allowed to have them! Here in the Netherlands we specificially contacted POP to ask them because it sounded ridiculous not to play off for the trophy, but the answer was clear. No playoffs, just like the rest of the season.
So AFAIK Denmark was the only one with playoffs for third place, and you'll have to agree with me that that's not fair compared to other countries who stuck to the rules, because a few of your players got ranking points that other players in similar situations were denied.
Well Lia, I am pretty sure Kristel is going. It all depends on Helga a bit. We'll have to wait and see.

It isn't just a 3rd place trophy at stake: for the UK, Denmark and Finland there is no invite for fourth place.
I have no issue with letting a trophy be decided by resistance at the end of the swiss rounds. But to have a seat at worlds decided totaly by resistance seems too much. I'm not at all surprised that Denmark ran a 3/4 playoff. It would never occur to me that with an invite at stake you would not decide it at the tables with a head to head match.
With four invites at nationals the playoff can have no impact on who gets a ratings invite. This is not the case with three invites at nationals.
With three invites the playoff can only push a player out of the ratings. The losing player goes down.
With two invites, the 3/4 playoff might decide a rating invite either way.
This information from Anna is such a surprise that I'm in a bit of a state of shock and I can't see clearly if this is a good or bad thing from the players point of view for those countries with three or two invites only. Like i said it makes no difference for those with 4.
Lots of EU countries had only two invites. All you need for a Top4 cut is 12 or more entrants. But at the bottom end of attendance I would not anticipate ratings being high enough to have an impact, that should eliminate a few of the two invite countries. By eliminate I mean that the presence or absence of the 3/4 playoff will have no impact on ratings invites.
Argh I need to go away and look at the details.

Yeah, I know. I discussed it with a few others last weekend, and we know it's ridiculous, especially for those countries you mentioned. But we were not allowed to have a playoff. Contact POP if you like, you'll get the same answer
What place is your son in? I updated the JR list, and the invites pass down to 51st place. To me, that's not very interesting
It's really difficult to tell though, because of the many players that are not in the rankings, and might suddenly show up over the next few days.

Updated the Seniors and Masters rankings with the Swiss results - Juniors didn't change at all.

Thanks for updating! He is now at 31. I've been hoping that anyone that pops in above him should have their own invite but you can't always be sure...
I really appreciate you doing this. I've been trying to guesstimate his chances and then stumbled on this list and it looks better for him than I was fearing when he dropped to 31... This is our first year getting so far so I don't have a feel for where roughly the cutoff has gone before.

Oh, if he's at 31 in Juniors, I think I can safely say you don't need to fear for his invitation, especially with only 4 NOIR players above him. Of course you're not sure until it arrives in the post, but so many Juniors already have invites.
I like doing this, and it's great to hear people appreciate the list! =D

I hope that POP decide to allow the 3/4 playoff to stand for both DK and FI, they can zero the points for that match but I do feel that the result should stand. Mike Liesik was at the Finland nationals too.
Are we certain that Finland had a 3/4 playoff? Or is this hearsay? or infered? there aren't too many people who could provide first hand information that could be considered as 100% reliable.

I know Mike L. was there, which makes me doubt the rule that we weren't allowed to play off for third place. But how can they play off when we weren't allowed to play off? I especially asked HaPe a few days before Nats if there would be a playoff cos of the trophy and he said NO we're not allowed.
All in all, I think we can conclude that whenever prizes for 3rd and 4th place are different (SPTs and definitely Nationals) we want the 3rd place play-off back!
