EV Training

Alright, for those of you who have seen me talk about my no EV Training approach, I've given up. I have decided to try EV training, juust for a while to see if my competitive edge gets better. However, I have just one problem. I don't. Know. How. I mean, I know how, but I was wondering if there were any non-pokerus related shortcuts, as from the looks of things, it'll take several days to train all of my pokemon properly, and by that time all of my pokemon will be so high leveled that they won't listen to a single word I have to say. If I just go about my merry way and just try to position all of my battles against the right opponent at the right time, then I'll lose a lot of EVs from the run-off. Someone HELP ME!!! Also, where do I get the EV Items?

g4u, EV training ftw. Beat the game, so the pokemon will listen to you. And you get the power items from the Battle tower, so you kinda do have to finish the game  . Hope that helps

No, it doesn't. The reason I don't want to finish the game first is because by then I won't have a single clue what my pokemon's EVs are, so it wouldn't help me. I need to EV train them right away so that I can get the stats I want without any interference.

You can use berries to clear the EVs of the pokemon you played through the game with. It would probably take less time to grow the berries than it would to start over completely.

Yeah, you just attach them to your pokemon and get them in the PalPark. I have a farm of EV lowering berries now :D

The problem with that is, I don't have Emerald, otherwise I would have already done that. I'll try to borrow it from my friend in a while, but unfortunately I already restarted my game. Darn. Well, now I have to play through all over again. Thanks for your help Loetke.

I am considering on making a Thread about EV Training, the tutorials on how to do it.

Most people won't ev train their pokemon until after they beat the game. Just go out and capture 6 pokemon and use them to beat the game. You won't have access to certain pokemon which yield certain evs until you beat the game.

The ev lowering berries drop your evs all the way too 100 and then 10 after that for each one you use.

Sweet. Thanks for the assistance guys. Now to find pokemon with the right Nature. Stupid random Natures! I've spent the past hour trying to get the right Nature for my Turtwig. Yes, I restarted the game so I could get properly natured pokemon. So sue me.

How far were you into it when you restarted the game? You can always hatch a Turtwig.

No, in my other game I had a Monferno, and in actuality even though the game was restarted about a month ago (and I have my cousin to thank for that, he doesn't get forgiveness for another month at least) I only had maybe 5 hours of gameplay on it (I've been really busy lately), so it won't take long to make it up.

How do I EV train on Emerald, and what is it exactly? I've never had any friends in real life to help me with stuff like that, or battle. So I've never really needed to be competitive. I want to start though so I can have a chance online.

If you had a ditto with the nature you wanted, you could put an everstone on it. The eggs will be %50 of the nature that the ditto is when hatched.

Yeah, but Febas are a pin in the #$% to get with the right nature, even with the Everstone.:nonono:

Yes, but unfortunately I have very bad luck with Dittos. I have never been able to capture one, save once when I got a lucky break in my Gold Game. I just never liked them all that much really, so I never went Ditto hunting, and even so, they're kind of rare, making it very difficult to get the right nature.

If you have Emerald version, you can just go to the cave inside the Fossil Maniac's house. The encounter rate on Dittos there is like 40-60%. Just grab 99 Ultra balls, hit them a few times, and start filling up your PC with different natured Dittos.
