I don't see Juniper's Dad being played in serious tournament decks, especially with Cheren doing the same thing except without the chance of giving your opponent the benefit instead. It could see some league play though, particularly by (and against) new players.

Why "Juniper's Dad" though? He has a name, Cedric.

In Japan, he is simply known as Dr. Araragi. He is not given a first name in Japan.

It says the height has to be printed on the card, so you can not put an EX or FA on the bottom of your deck. If you want to put Emolga DRX on the bottom of your deck for who knows what reason, make sure you are running the Shiny Collection FA version.

Not that I see this becoming an issue, but can't you technically bring a cheat sheet with all Pokemon heights listed on them, then just resort to your list when your opponent announces a Pokemon? :wink:

I'm thinking we'll see it in November now that the first XY-related products for Japan have been revealed and A) it's not XY1, but rather just a Beginning Set, and B) those themselves won't even be out until November. Kind of makes the whole idea of a synced release schedule fall apart unless they plan on holding XY1 Japanese until February.

My pure speculation:

Announcing Extended format to me makes me think XY1 will be out in November. In order to make the set a decent size the twenty new/unreleased cards will be used to fill in XY1. EBB is largely reprints and which leads me to think Japan just wanted a way to kill time until XY1's synced date. Excadrill and Chandelure EX would make me think S1 and S2 EXs will be a gimmick in XY so they are a bit of a teaser for XY1 without blatantly saying it.

Here's hoping they at least start making Evolving worthwhile and shy away from at least strong, damaging first turn attacks. At least right now, some more hypothetical "anti-EX"/"anti-Basic" cards could balance or at least mitigate some of what we have now.

They could just change the templating. There were those two HGSS black star promos (Pikachu and something else... I think it was a fighting Pokémon?) that were technically from the DP block in Japan (with the non-x2 weakness) but were templated for HGSS when they were made promos in that run.
