Announcements and Rules will be announced shortly after Registration closes. The Tournament will run so many rounds depending on how many people attend, which means we have no specific times to give you for the end time.

Tournament Format
Players will compete in a number of rounds of EX: Dragon sealed play. This is not a Ruby and Sapphire Gameboy Tournament. We will offer a side event for those wishing to play GBA.

No cards are required. At the start of the event, players will receive six boosters of Pokemon-e TCG EX: Dragon to construct a forty card deck. Players then have thirty minutes to build their forty card deck and list their cards from their pack and in their deck on sheets provided at the event. Energy Cards will be supplied for deck construction after you have filled out all of the forms.

For more information on this event and others check out the Official Pokemon Organized Play website at http://op.pokemon-tcg.com.

Tournament Structure
Players will be separated into three age groups: Ten and Under, Eleven to Fourteen, and Fifteen and Up. All rounds will be played with the TCG sealed deck that you constructed from the six packs of EX: Dragon. Players will have 30 minutes to complete each round, with each player putting out 4 Prize cards. Players who win a game receive three points, a player who loses a game receives zero points. If a tie occurs between prizes, there is no sudden death, both players receive one point.

Tournament Prizes
Prizes are awarded to the top eight players in each age category, reflecting the age categories of 15+ years, 11-14 years, and 10 years & under. Everyone will receive a special Prerelease
card!

GBA Side Events
We will be offering a Game Boy Advanced Ruby and Sapphire Tournament to occur at the same time as the Main Pre Release Event. Just show up during registration time and make sure you have a legal team:

• 3 Pokemon of level 50 or lower.
• No two of the same Pokémon.
• Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza are banned.
• No duplicate held items.
• Certain powers (Rest, Recover, etc) are not allowed after 8 minutes into the match.
• "Modified" GBA cartridges are not allowed.

Entry fee to this tournament will be announced at the event. Prizes will be determined depending upon the amount of people playing. If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail Heidi at [email protected].

Side Events will include a Constructed Modified Tournament and/or up to eight player Booster Drafts.

Gainesville?!

I never thought I'd see the day that a Premiere Pokemon Tournament would be held in my hometown.

You probably bribed Heidi ;)

I think its awesome that were doing two events. I also think its awesome that we are doing the convention scene next spring/summer. Not to mention that Worlds has to occur sometime next Summer, so uh I'd expect some sort of state qualifiers! We're going to be so busy next year... November alone has three big events in a row now!

What are the chances that the first Premiere Pokemon Tournament in Gainesville is the weekend when I'll be in Texas for the Grand Kai Invitational (DBZ Tournament).

:(

I'll definitely be in Orlando though.

It is against the rules Pokemon USA has given us to charge for the Gameboy events. Not to mention against the law (its considered video gamboling.)

How do you figure it's against the law, when prizes are offered?

I couldn't figure that out either, but that is what Pokemon USA told all the TO's in there information packet for both the Sandstorm and Dragon Prerelease tournaments. Which if you think about it, you get prizes in casinos on video machines too. So I guess that is what they are referring too.

Ack! Just disregard the cost part right now. For the most part I reposted this from the Sandstorm and Ruby/Sapphire challanges pages. Lemme check with Heidi.

Attention Players headed to our Gainesville event:

This is a special rate. In order to have a discounted room you must say you are with the Pokemon event. The phone number is 352-378-2405 to make reservations.

Hope to see some old and new faces. Just don't steal any towels.

Sorry for the double post. I want to make this clear to all those who frequent the Gym to understand some new developments:

Phil McKinney (that's me) will be acting as Head Judge for both Orlando and Gainesville tournaments. Professors Ron Roby and Khym Villacrusis will be judges for all of the events. If you question the ruiling made by Ron or Khym, the final authority figure will be myself, since I'm the head judge.

Some may say this is just trivial. I know, I feel the same way. We just want to make it crystal clear that, as with the last events, the judges are making the rulings. Heidi Craig has not had any input in tournament rulings for the R/S Challenge or the EX: Sandstorm Prerelease. She will still not have any power to make rulings either as the tournament organizer. She will, however, still be given the authority from the judging staff to deal with severe problems not related to gameplay and mechanics involved. (examples: innappropriate behavior, disruptions, threats, and other liabilities)

The bottom line is to respect our ruilings for the day, as all attendees did at our last event. By doing so, everyone will have a great time. Thanks for joining us!

We really want to be supportive of all the events. I wish I could go.

I would like to be the first to announce that we will be raffling off the limited edition Prerelease Playing Mats that Pokemon USA is giving to both Orlando and Gainesville Prereleases.

In addition, I'd also like to remind players of our awesome Player Rewards Program:

If you played in either of the following Prerelease events: Ruby/Sapphire Challenge (Orlando), Prerelease Sandstorm (Orlando), or Prerelease Dragon (Orlando) bring a friend to the Prerelease Dragon (Orlando/Gainesville) event who hasn’t played in any past Prerelease events. When you both enter the tournament, the player who brought the friend will receive a free booster pack of Pokemon cards!

Also look out for the PokemonFlorida.com crew! They will be on hand taking pictures and capturing some live video to go up later that week. Be sure to smile.
