exp. share & Trainer lock

If I already have put an exp. share on an active pokemon and benched pokemon and my opponent trainer locks me and KOs my active, can i still use exp.shares effect and move an energy from the Active to the other Pokemon with exp.share on it?i.e. they play down Vileplume, then Ko me

Vileplume only prevents you from playing an Item card (putting it from your hand into play).
It does not prevent you from using the effect of a Trainer that is already in play.
