Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Farfetch'd (EM) or Spinda (LM) or Yanma (UF)?

I've got a deck that uses Scramble Energy, and I'm trying to find a starting Pokémon that I can let be KO'd & isn't Jirachi (DX). I've narrowed it down to Farfetch'd (EM) & Spinda (LM) [edited after post #19] & Yanma (UF).

Farfetch'd (#107, Emerald)
70HP | Weak: L | Resist: F | Retreat: 1
Spearhead (C): Draw a card.
Nosedive (CC): 30, Farfetch'd does 10 damage to itself.

Spinda (#26, Legend Maker)
60HP | Weak: F | Resist: None | Retreat: 1
Poké-Body: Pattern Distraction - As long as Spinda is your Active Pokemon, whenever your opponent's Basic Pokemon tries to attack, your opponent flips a coin. If tails, that attack does nothing. You can't use more than 1 Pattern Distraction Poke-Body each turn.
Whimsy Draw (C): Flip a coin until you get tails. For each heads, draw 2 cards.
Double-Edge (CC): 30, Flip a coin. If tails, Spinda does 10 damage to itself.

[edited, after post #19]
Yanma (#50, Unseen Forces)
60HP | Weak: R | Resist: None | Retreat:1
Grand Loop (C): Draw 2 cards. You may switch Yanma with 1 of your Benched Pokémon.
Spinning Tail (GC): Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 20 damage to each of your opponent's Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Reistance for Benched Pokémon.)

You can see the pros & cons of each. I just can't decide how many I should run (4-0, 1-3, 2-2, or a combination of 5). Currently running 2 Fafetch'd, 2 Yanma & 1 Spinda.
Any help appreciated.

my vote is farfetched, it gets a guaranteed draw, and it does guaranteed damage to itself. It doesn't have the potential of spinda, but it also takes the luck out of it.

Spinda FTW, flip untill you get tails and 2 for each heads is close to 2 cards average. Farfetched only draws one. And well he also has a body that could save him another turn (= draw more cards) or let the opponent's farfetched not draw a card .

Farfetch'd simply because I've never seen a single person ever play it. Bonus points for originality.

Bonus Points won't get you to Table 1 :/ PLAY SPINDA!

have you considered... Yanma...

60hp
Grass
C: draw 2 cards. You may switch yanma with a benched pokemon
GC: Spinning tail: flip a coin if head does 20 damage all you opponents pokemon.

Im assuming DX on?

I actually prefer Dunsparce LM

Down draw (C) Draw two cards from btotom of your deck

Tripping turn (C) Defending pokemon is confused. You may switch dunsparce with a benched pokemon.

Not only do you guarantee draw 2 cards, but you can confuse for one as well.

Great card.

You can use better starters...

if you use a delta species based deck, a strong holon engine with castforms works VERY well.
otherwise, a strong holon engine with jirachi hls can work miracle for consistancy and setup
jirachi dx is always a strong starter, too. normally get 1 card a turn, but getting to CHOOSE that card from the top 5 cards!
yanma and dunsparce are also good starters if you simply want to draw cards from the top...

OK, a few more notes on the deck: It's Psychic/Fighting, Stage 1, non-delta, and DX-On (will be anyway). I'll post it [in the proper forum] after league on Thursday.

Vote tally (I'll keep it this post): [updated after post #: 32]
Farfetch'd (EM) - 5
Spinda (LM) - 8
Yanma (UF) - 5
Jirachi (HL) - 2
Dunsparce (LM) - 2 (<~ & above thank you for mentioning other ideas)
Jirachi (DX) - 1 (<~ I thought said 'not Jirachi (DX)')
Holon's Castform - 2 (<~ despite the deck being NON-δ)
Barboach (HP) - 1 (<~ joke, but why not include it?)
Aipom (UF) w/ Dunsparce (LM) - 1
Aipom (UF) w/ Tuaros (CG) - 1
Aipom (UF) w/ Luvdisc (CG) - 1
Plusle? Minun? (TK2) - 1 (<~Draw Up Power! Weee!)

As far as why Farfetch'd & Spinda, they're almost the same (their few differences balance to equal Pokémon, IMO) & ease of trading for. Not to say the rest of the suggestion are hard to get (except Jirachi (DX), and exception to that exception is that I have 4 already).

[updated: post 19] Yanma is cool, and I'm adding to the list (so now it's between Farfetch'd/Spinda/Yanma). The 2nd attack requiring an energy type the deck doesn't use & a coin flip is annoying, but I don't plan to use it much (if at all) & I have Holon's Elec/Mag in the deck.

Jirachi (HL) is good & self damaging, but it doesn't help me get Scramble Energy (or transeiver/etc.) out & the deck is only Stage 1 (some of which I don't want played ASAP). Plus it being cut-off in September-ish.

I was thinking (after I posted) about Dunsparce, but what keeps me from considering it more is 1) a Body that isn't that useful, really 2) only 50HP & 3) no base damage.

Reason I say no to Jirachi (DX) is because a lack of Swoop! & Island Cave (since it being a DX-On deck). I had it in there, but kept attaching to my bench & going "Oops, I could of retreated Jirachi. >.<"

Farfetch'd has a pretty good resistance and 10 more HP. I think that's better since flips tend to be unreliable.

Well it completely depends on the deck. For a deck with Trode EX, use Magmar. For a deck with stacks of δ pokemon, use Holons Castform. Others like Jirachi, Dunsparce, Plusle, are good in there own way.

But given an option between the two you suggested, Spinda!

If you're looking to play a deck that draws a lot of cards for one colorless energy, play RaichuEggs. One colorless energy translates to "draw 5" with Holon's Castform active.
