Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Finish this sentence: The card this format would be better without is...

How many people are actually being serious?

Let's face it this is one of the more diverse seasons we've seen in a while and for good reason. Cards like Catcher serve as tools to counter decks that would otherwise be a horrible match-up. Plus Power gives the slight push needed to keep up with an opponent's deck. Super Rod is an easy to play recovery. Dual Ball gets basics for decks that need first turn set-up. Max Potion heals all damage on a Pokemon.

This format is centered around Trainers. What trainers do you need to counter the big Pokemon, and what Trainers do you need to remain consistent until the end of the game. That makes the format easily accessible, and decks have many options to be versatile, and that's only going to get better over the coming months when we get stuff like Ultra Ball, Heavy Ball, and Level Ball.

Then throw in Pokemon ranging from big, bulky, and strong, to disruptive and you start getting a meta that is actually pretty good. Compared to the recent years of SPs, and GG it's nice to see such a diverse group in my opinion.

I also believe Pachi is the one card I would take away, not Catcher

Not being able to even take a turn is way worse than having both players able to disrupt each other with Catcher

Pachi and catcher are definitely problems, but here's my answer:

The card this format would be better without is Junk Arm.

No one likes getting Catcher'd 5 turns in a row.... :/

I agree with everyone else. If one card goes its Pachi. At Regionals I hand a good had. I only had a lone pokemon but a Collector in hand and a way to set up. Coin flips and its tails. I go second. He turns over a Shaymin and a Zekrom on the bench. 3 Dual balls, 2 plus power, drops a Pachi (doesnt call self regeneration but I let it slide) Junipers. Attaches another energy, plays a switch and knocks out my lone pokemon. Not a fun match.

Also to the topic about tropical beach, I think it is a great idea releasing a limited printed card for play in format. Maybe its just a crazy fantasy but I always imagined having these few ringer cards given out only to the elite players becaused they earned it for their exellent job in the worlds tournament or the super rare card that only 5 were printed and you were able to pull it. But people like money more so the sell them and that kind of ruins it. Similar to the Victory Medals. Your sitting there playing against an opponent and then suddly they drop a Victory Medal and your like "Wow, they actually win Tournaments" Well thats how it always played out in my mind. :p

It's not that Pachi is the problem. The problem is they don't make cards compatible with older legal sets. Pachi is only a problem because of the new BW set and their fast Pokemon. If I had to choose, it would be Pokemon Catcher, Junk Arm and Plus Power to name a few.

A format w/out vileplume is heaven for me

:nonono:
Vileplume is necessary in this format

As for my opinion, Pachirisu would be good to get rid of. Get's rid of Donks in the format (outside of Tyrogue), and gets rid of my least favorite deck ever...(ZPST)

While I can understand the notion against Pachi (something I disagree with) I can't agree with what you said. Weather or not the cards are compatible (which I'm sure Japan intended HS and BW to intermingle) it doesn't matter. Catcher, Junk Arm, and Plus Power are far from the problem, they're utility cards. Plus Power has never been a problem before in it's 4 year tenure in the meta, it's only important now because 10 damage makes a big difference now, which was obviously intended. Junk Arm while it is abusive discarding 2 cards is a heavy toll and makes the card quite balanced, abusive, but balanced. Pokemon Catcher if anything is more of a balancing act than anything else. Remember Luxray GL lv X, Pokemon Catcher is a more available version that is playable in all decks instead of only the decks that could fit it.

My opinion? I'd have to say Vileplume. Trainer lock just cramps so many decks' styles, it's not funny.

You're right. Vileplume is so huge of a problem that as many as 2 decks with Vileplume (out of 28 decks) made top 4 at Regionals in Masters.

Vileplume doesn't cramp other decks' styles as much as cards like Zekrom, Magnezone, and Typhlosion do.

Junk Arm, for sure. It allows too much leeway for misplays with Juniper/Sage's/item supplies, and therefore gives the weaker player a far greater chance of winning any given game.

How are they misplays if it awards them later?

Furthermore I'd rather be relaxed about my item usage than lose because I couldn't draw my 4th Catcher or 3rd switch. Junk Arm makes the format much less luck based.
