THEME DECK CHALLENGE FOR YOUNGER/NEW PLAYERS

In addition to the standard prerelease tournament format, a more casual event called the Theme Deck Challenge will be offered for new or younger players. For the Theme Deck Challenge, registration cost is $20, but players receive a Theme Deck of their choice to play in the event and 3 booster pack. The top 50% of the participants will receive an additional booster pack at the end of the event. The theme deck challenge is especially designed for new or younger players to play Pokemon TCG in a non competative environment. This event will be run at the same time as the Pre release tournament and will be offered first to younger players, new players and their parents.

The Theme Deck challenge uses standard Swiss pairings, not Age Modified Swiss. This theme deck challenge is not a sanctioned tournament and players do NOT receive rating points for participation in the Theme Deck Challenge.

If there is enough interest, we will have a booster draft after the main event is over and possibly a theme deck challenge if all the decks haven't been used in the main/first theme deck challenge. Cost for these side/after events is $15.

The location has changed. Still the same Vallco Mall, but a new area. Upper level next to Famous Footwear, store #2014. We are converting a giant room into a gaming room!! How exciting!! Still enter at the Sears side of the mall as that is the closest to this area.
 
UPDATE: The first 50 players to register will receive a non-stamped Tropical Wind #26 promo card as well as the regular prerelease card!! also, the first 10 to register will receive a souvenir keycard from the Wyndham Hotel
that has Charizard, Venusaur and Blastoise pic on it! See you there!

Oh man, all the more reason to get there early -- especially since this time I GET TO PLAY instead of judge. But ... Tropical Wind? I thought that's what you got from eating to much pinapple! :p

of course ill be there but hey nick why didnt oakland have a pre again for this set?

You got me... I guess the size of the last one sort of killed it. Not to mention there's no PTO to run/organize it (I can't be a PTO until I start making good use of my TO status). Plus the main reason why the event was in Oakland to begin with, Will Hung, didn't even make an appearance. Oh well. :(

That's OK though, there'll be a TON of people in Cupertino (I hope). I'll be bringing a whole van full of Oaklandites with me. :D
