Can anyone explain to me why there are shiny versions of regular set cards in the same set together? I'm confused. Wouldn't it have made more sense to reprint sableye,or dark patch,or even prism energy. Am I missing something here?

technically they aren't shiny versions of the mega, the only real difference is in the border art being gold instead of silver, truthfully i'd rather have full art versions of the megas like the regular ex has.

as for dark patch and sableye, as much as I like being able to get item cards back from discard items are too powerful for those two cards to stay, diggersby is a good replacement for sableye with its higher costs (evo + 1 extra energy). dark patch on the other hand the best replacement would be a reprint of energy pickup

Sableye and dark patch are just examples, any other playable cards that are going to be rotated next would have made more sense to me.

My head will explode if some card from BW gets reprinted.

Part of me died when Sycamore was announced, and now Ultra ball…

I don't think we've gotten English exclusive cards in a while...
The Japanese set had the gold border SRs, so I don't see why we should've gotten anything different.

We got an English exclusive Draglage promo. ::tongue:

But the main issue at the pre-releases was that people were expecting the secret rares to have English text and not Japanese. This also lead to some people pulling secrets without being aware of it. (Oh and get ready for some future eBay problems/scams/misleading listings!). If our regular Mega cards can be switched from English to Japanese, I don't understand why the same could not have been applied to the secret rares. Maybe they forgot, were lazy, or just didn't care?

I don't mind having Mega's as SRs instead of BW cards that we've seen forever now. But I'd prefer it if they actually had some uniqueness to them other than some gold slapped onto it.

I have no problem with them being SRs, although I do find it odd that ours didn't carry the English text like the Japanese SRs carried Japanese.

Unless it became a problem with them would having to redraw the art because the attack names are different, maybe?

Ahh, didn't think of that. What a shame! I was looking forward to some silly "Gangam style punch!" shouts during battles. :(

Come to think of it, they'd also need to redo the art in every language cards are printed in then (which is what, French/Italian/German/Spanish/Portuguese?). That's a LOT of redone/alternated art.

That would make rotation redundant. The whole point is to make some cards no longer playable, to freshen up the format.

Some is my point. I'm talking about 3-6 cards out of hundreds.

And those 3-6 cards are the ones with the largest impact on the format.
I'd bet my left nut that they won't give any BW cards a direct/SR reprint in any XY set. Does anyone really want another 2 years of the same stuff?

Technically we've already had non-SR reprints of Black/White cards, with Ultra Ball and the Kalos Starter Pawniard. ;p (And the various other obvious things like Switch and Potion that have been in every format since the beginning of time.)

I have no problem with reprints. But I do have a problem with them reprinting powerful cards for the sake of reprinting them, as was the case with the BW series shinies. Why should powerful cards be legal for an extra year or two than they'd otherwise be? That, as has been mentioned, defeats the purpose of a rotation in the first place, as we'd lose very few powerful cards. (We already saw how irrelevant the rotation to Next Destinies-on was. It got rid of almost nothing.) If a card has a valid reason for returning, I see no reason for it not to (I mean, things like Level Ball and Super Rod aren't really hurting the game), but reprinting power cards just for the sake of it is stupid, and damaging to the game.

No one has actually commented with anything helpful here. Everyone is focusing on reprints instead of there being multiples of the same card in the same set. I just think it's dumb, I guess that's all I was getting at.

I think it's because they want to create something new. Power creep continues, but B/W is left at the front door. Is that such a bad thing if we don't? I hate the current format and want to play in something new and full of synergy and options, currently I'm sick and tired of N and juniper, dark patch and raindance, what about something else.

You're complaining about multiple versions of the same card in the same set?

So how about those full art EX pokemon and supporters...

edit: Or if it's the rarity divide that bothers you then how about Legendary Treasures? Reshiram and Zekrom came in regular Holo rarity and in golden Secret rarity. What's the big deal?

I'm just ready for something new. I'm glad I can play with Pidgeot now but its still the same thing over and over. They need to just kill off BW altogether and rotate to XY. Sure only 2 legal sets would hurt but the game is boring now. Time for new cards to shine.

I'm guessing it was just to give people 2 extra reasons (not many people will be looking for the M Kangaskhan SR as much as the two SR M Chars) to buy Flashfire packs/boxes. And the border isn't the only difference, the letters on the SR Megas ar gold while the normal versions have the letters in a mix of red, orange and yellow.

The good thing is that it looks like pulling one of the M Charz won't be too difficult. A good amount of people who went to prerelease pulled at least one, and 3/4 of the flashfire box openings I've seen had at least one of the M Charizards.
