Before I could continue through Illex Forest I taught my Rattata the HM move Cut. Once out of the forest I dropped it off along with Hoothoot at the Day Care Center just to level them up some. When I returned about 8 - 10 levels later to pick them up Rattata didn't have the Cut move any longer..Has anyone else had a similar experience or is this a defective game? I just got the game on April 2 from the local Target.
 
That doesn't mean your game's defective. It's most likely just a glitch - Pokémon learn new moves at the daycare, and Rattata most likely got a new move to replace Cut, even though that is not normally doable via level-up.
