Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Fort Wayne City Championship January 10th

How many people usually show up to these things in Indiana? Apart from my small group of friends I don't know anyone else in the state that plays.

This is the first one being held there. I do know they have a large league but not sure of the ages. Some may be coming up from Indianapolis and i know some are coming from Michigan.

You may want to see the post located on here about the tournament.

Be aware, weather is suppose to get pretty bad in Ft Wayne this weekend. I put the Winter watch info on the page.

I rarely cancel a tournament, Northern Indiana is use to 6 inches of snow and most people know how to drive in it. If your driving a long distance I would leave early enough not to miss registration. We are under time constraints at this location and will not extend registration times. If we do cancel it will be posted on the post above and on cardleagues.com

FYI, in 8 years, I have only canceled 1 tournament, and that was only because of a snow emergency was in effect and we couldn't be on the roads.

Derek just updated me that it's not looking good for tomorrow. Keep watching for news on on the thread above.

According to Cardleagues.com the tournament scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled because of the weather. :(

Trust me I didn't want to cancel, however seeing the forcast that I did I didn't want anyone to get hurt and thought it best. They are calling for freezing rain later tonight.

You can see the forecast in video form from a Ft Wayne station at http://www.wane.com/subindex/weather

Most forecast I have seen call for freezing rain from early morning thru what would have been registration, I just couldn't risk someone getting hurt.

It's completely understandable. I probably would've done the same thing if I was in your position. I do have one question though.

Do you plan on rescheduling the tournament for a later date?

unfortunately no, this was the last weekend cities could be scheduled. We did try to do it next weekend but the first date available at the library would be feb 28th, well after I would be allowed to run them.

So we now look forward to the prereleases, states and regionals

Alright, I have another question then. I just started playing Pokemon again so don't hurt me for the stupid questions. xD

In order to go to States, do you have get some sort of invite to them by winning a Cities Tournament? Or can you just go as you please?

all tournies are open to the public except for worlds. no invite necessary.

man, i was sooo psyched for this. i had fine-tuned my deck to a cities-worthy degree.

you probably made the right decision, as we were going to drive the distance and risk our lives anyways. thanks.

Oh, really? Even for Worlds? Sweet!

I feel ya man. My friends and I were so hyped up for this tournament. Oh well, at least we won't have to be driving through all that crap tomorrow.

"except for" = "not including".... meaning an invite IS needed for Worlds. However, there is a Last Chance Qualifier the day before Worlds to try and grind a way in if you do not accumulate enough points for an invite.

Sorry to hear the event was canceled. We are expecting some snow and freezing rain and I have a bit of a drive to our CC in the morning. (fingers crossed)

Oh I didn't notice the 'except for worlds' part. I jumped the gun a bit too early.

Good luck with your CC tomorrow, Abudoggie.

Thats the main reason I did canel it, I didn't want people to have to drive thru it. Just not worth the chance of someone getting hurt. The freezing rain has started in the area, and roads are not pretty.

I have actually stayed up watching the weather, I was worried I would cancel it and then the weather would get better, but it has actually gotten worse. Imagine that the weather people actually got something right for a change. :)

Yes Regionals and States are open to everyone. Indiana States is March 14th in Auburn Indiana, Regionals is April 18th in Angola, IN

I will have more posted on here and my website in the next few weeks.
