Fossils and prizes

[TRAINER HEZ]

Hi, I seem to remember Fossils getting an errata stating that they DO give a prize when KO'd.
I ctrl+F'd my way through the compendium and couldn't find it though. Is this rule still in place?

(I think it was a Polistall deck that caused a Worlds top cut match to go on for several hours that resulted in the errata)

There was no errata on Fossils like that.
There is this errata, but that does not make them give prizes:

While in play, Mysterious Fossil, Claw Fossil, and Root Fossil, count as both Trainer cards and as Pokémon. Previous rulings did not consider them to be "Trainer cards" while in play. (Apr 5, 2005 PUI Announcements; Apr 7, 2005 PUI Rules Team)

There was a match or two in the LCQ as you describe, but not in the World Championship itself.

That did lead to a requirement that decks have at least one Pokemon card in them and probably also to the new Fossil mechanic where you play it as an Item card to search the bottom 7 cards of your deck to put a specific Restored Pokemon into play. But not what you're thinking.
