Fun deck with Plasma sets?

Hi People!

So basically I'm a very new and (for now) very casual player, and I usually play at home with my girlfriend. I have bought in the past month a booster box and numerous boosters of both Plasma Storm and Plasma Freeze. I am also getting one from Plasma Blast today. I have some EXs of all sets, all commons, uncommons and most rares/holos.

I was wondering if someone could help me come up with a fun deck idea, using these sets, so I can make a deck for 'my girlfriend? I'm still very new at this and don't know where to start... I also have some cards from slightly earlier sets and would not mind having to buy singles.

I'd appreciate any help and tips! Basically looking to have a good time and improve my game!

Thanks for your time!

Most likely this will get moved to a different area of the boards.
Due to no deck list/strategy.

Anyhow

It really depends on what cards you have.

I would guess you just want to have fun playing & not be super competitive with your girlfriend?

Does she like the "cute" Pokemon?
If so go through whatever cards you have with her to make a deck with those.

Most of the Plasma sets will be focused on Team Plasma or anti Team Plasma.

So maybe a deck for each "side"?

The Exeggecute deck might be fun to make & play.
Or maybe something around Infernape (Plasma) & Simisear.

Just look around at some of my deck ideas, since I tend to make more "fun" decks.
IE not super competative (but can win).

If you have a league in your area, go & check it out.
They are usually pretty fun & casual places to meet people who play Pokemon.
Plus if you tell them your new to the game there is a good chance they might hook you up with free cards.
(Note: not everybody is going to do this, but it never hurts to ask).

I would say Eeveelutions for her. She has some fun options with Flareon and/or Umbreon. Maybe a Vaporeon/Suicune deck after you get your plasma blast boosters.

My GF and I were the same way a few months back. She played a modified theme deck then switched it up to Kyrum/Lugia EX once she got some cards. She actually got a 3rd place at a spring battle roads with it. Since her win she got more competitive and the deck wasn't as good as she once thought. Now she plays a Darkrai

Thanks a lot for the suggestions! How would I be able to take a look at your decks ideas? I am sure I'll find something interesting in there!

My deck is actually based on Eeveelutions haha. I can send you my deck list if you wanna give me a hand, too!
I also very must like the Vaporeon/Suicune idea. I actually got a Suicune in a booster today. Any suggestions for this deck? I honestly am completely noob at how to create a deck!

The basic premise behind making a deck is to add a bunch of the cards you want to get out every game, add a couple of the cards you don't need to get out every game, and then add a bunch of trainers that help you get those cards out.

So like... 3 suicune and 3-3 or 4-4 Vaporeon (that's 4 eevee 4 vaporeon, if you're new to that notation), some Ultra balls and Level balls to search them out with, some supporters like N and Juniper and Skyla and Colress to help you draw those search cards and your energy and those kinds of things.

Most people run stuff like Hypnotoxic Laser, Pokemon Catcher, Virbank City Gym, and Float Stone as extra little tools as well.

That's a very good tip, thank you so much! I'll try and work something out with a Vaporeon/Suicune deck.

Go to "deck help & strategy" (where you first posted this topic).
Look for any decks that have my name under them.

For example: http://pokegym.net/forums/showthread.php?t=178633

Note: I haven't posted my only Unlimited format deck in some time.
So it's probably gone by now.

Just in case:

Unlimited means you can use any cards in any set in your deck.

Most people make decks with the "modified" format.
Modified is currently Next Destinies-Plasma Blast (took out Black & White, Noble Victories & Dark Exploerers)

Thanks a lot for the link, I'll definitely go and look-up your decks.

I'm planning on making decks with the modified format. But I have a hard time understanding it. Is Next Destinies still legal? Also, is Dragon Vault also legal? Can I still use a Super Rod in modified?

Next Destinies,Dark Explorers, Dragons Exalted, Boundaries Crossed, Plasma Storm, Plasma Freeze, Plasma Blast, and dragon Vault are all still legal. Also, any card reprinted in those sets can still be played, so since Super Rod was in Dragon Vault, you could use the NVI version too, since it's the same card.

Correction: Dark Explorers is still in the format. It was Emerging Powers as the third set that was axed.

Thanks for the clarification.
Technically the rotation doesn't go into effect until August 28.
However lots of people have pre-emptily done so already.
