Going into the event i didn't really feel like i would do well at all and i thought i was just going to scrub terribly and my rating was going to get ruined. But i play a quick game the morning of the tournament and decide that i was going to play dialga g + techs, underground edition

Rd. 1 vs. guy with T-Tar
he gets a darkrai start and i get a bronzong g start. im first and i just bench houndoom g ands omething else i forget. i also attach an energy to bronzong. he has a really slow start and i just bench him out after 3-4 prizes with a dialga g that i rosey/g-switch for with second strike.

Rd. 2 vs James Hamilton - machamp with dusknoir and mismaguis tech
dont really remember what i started with but i do remember eventually doing a deafen lock with no HQ since all he had on board was a like two machops baltoy duskull and something else. i search out croaks and skuntank once i finally get a stadium but i spent most of the game just beating him up with a dialga g lv x that was guarded. at one point he got the dusknoir lv x active but i set it up to die from poison. i win 0-5 on prizes.

Rd. 3 vs Gengar
i dont really remember too much from this game other than him scaring the crap out of me with like a turn 2/3 gengar. but he had no follow up on that and even though he had lookers on my 9-10 card hand he had to shuffle his away to try and improve his weak board. eventually i think i just fought him with dialga g lv x and benched him out because i collected 3 sprays.

After this round I hear glenn's already lost a round and found out it was to some shaymin deck that just does seed flare attaching a ton of nrg to a crobat g, poketurns it and does it again. I'm not gonna lie, I was really worried about this because you know its a strange matchup and im not really too prepared for it.... except for that houndoom g.
Rd. 4 vs Jason Santos with super secret shaymin deck... lol
just my luck though, the one deck i didnt actually want to face at all, i play against next round.
he gets a crobat start and i start with dialga. he wins the flip and im going second but i dont remember if i got a deafen my first turn or my second. either way i got one going early and i also roseanne'd for looking for houndoom g but it was prized so i grabbed azelf and skuntank. i time walk and i have two sprays prized so i make sure to remember where i put those and grab houndoom g. i get my houndoom powered up soon but not before i start second striking all his crobats/uxie. he buys time for a few turns by poketurning crobats that i second strike and retreating for a fresh one. eventually he wastes all 4 turns so i know he cant do his little crobat combo anymore and i finally get my dialga lv x out one shotting his crobats. it doesnt have a sp metal though so shaymin comes up and ko's it and he powers up a freshly benched shaymin. that was the first prize he'd taken all game though and i already had a jump on him 3 prizes to his 5 remaining. i send up houndoom g and set up a honchkrow on my bench. i KO the shaymin and he KO's me back with the one on his bench. i send up honchkrow and play crobat + poketurn it to put two on his claydol that already had twenty on it from evolving while HQ was out. time was called and i only had 1 prize left to his 3 but we both agreed if we played it out i would have one anyways because when he did seed flare he was forced to attack to meaningless pokemon like baltoy and claydol. also i had a benched croak and skuntank + two stadiums in hand that would be enough to end his active shaymin's life. cool game i was glad i overcame the scary shaymin.

pretty much right now i thought glenn was just mad because he was saying i was in trouble and that i had to win on time vs the shaymin but i really think he was just angry that i beat it and he didnt. i get kind of mad at him but its all good and i just brush it off and continue playing the tourney.
Rd. 5 vs Josh bangle with beedrill.... great another random deck
before the match started i kinda got mad at the kid sitting next to me for telling josh i had a bebe's search in my hand, which i really did have. but its ok he showed me a multi energy... lol. i dont remember what he started with but i started with a honchkrow and he gets a phione up like t2 and i dont like that so i poison structure+flashbite+target attack it for the KO but he had too much stuff on his bench already, and i had no power sprays. i could only get one power spray all game and that was lame =[. it goes back and forth he keeps swarming and retreating bees and i kind of do the same by poketurning my guys but really i had to just second strike him most of the game. he gets TONS of rips with no hand like bebe+like two rare candies and some came from a trade off it really irritated me. in the end i did a double flashbite+ poison structure to KO an injured beedrill to make the prize count 1-1 but i forgot about the uxie lv x that was hiding on the bench with one energy. Rd. 6 vs Josh's friend from nevada using Gechamp
i dont remember having too hot of a start but his is equally kif not worse than mine but he rips a nasty prized cynthias that he played next turn after killing one of his gengars or champs i dont really remember but it got him a ton of cards that he needed very badly and he just kept on KOing all of my dudes and i lost 2-0 on prizes.

Rd. 7 vs Ricky Garcia using Machamp, trying to be cute with regice
i remember going first with a dialga g start to his machop start. im scared he has the donk so i play my unown g and guard my dialga but not before attaching an energy. his start must be ugly because he roseanne'd to check for his regice and it was prized along with uxies and he just grabs like baltoy and machop or something like that. i get the deafen going and his hand is terrible at one point he had all four rare candies in his hand but i just kept going for the deafen and eventually i had my board setup good enough to just go heads up with anything he sends up. i level up to dialga g lv x retreat and start fighting with toxicroak. there was some other stuff that happened here too like me playing lake boundary and deafen locking with skuntank out on a unguarded dialga g so that when he got a machamp out my benched croak would ko him. i felt bad for him he only took one prize but i didnt feel bad after what he did in between this and the next round. 0-5 on prizes

so right now we have one more round left and i feel i have a great shot at making the top cut, but my friend i just played last round is considering dropping even though he said at the end of our game he would probably play it out. and my friend i lent a deck to so he could play in the event kept encouraging him to drop just because he doesnt care about anything that happens in that situation because it doesnt pertain to him. he kept saying " come on ricky be a rebel, do it ". and he does drop! i didnt think that one match would make a difference even though i kept on pleading him not to drop.
Rd. 8 vs Jeremy Jallen using Dialga g + techs
i get a dialga start again =] and im going second to his lonely skuntank. he attaches a special metal and passes. i beast to get set up on my next turn by attaching a metal + egaining my dialga, roseanneing for a azelf because my houndoom g was prized and an uxie. i time walk memorize my prizes and grab houndoom g. i play it set up for 3-4 and bench a honchkrow to make sure i can power spray him next turn. i deafen and its his go. he draws and just scoops. he shows me his hand, uxie dialga g and allllll trainers. i felt sorry for him but i was happy because now i thought i was going to make the cut.

So the standings are posted and i wasnt there the second they went up but what grabbed my attention was some people i know who yelled " AWWW WHAT 17TH??! " I walk over to the standings and leo sees me coming and hes just laughing i dont know why and then he points to the name under the red marker, which was me. I was 17th place and i missed the cut by .21%! POINT. TWO. ZERO. I guess ricky dropping did matter after all.
