Gaming Fanboys...

Shellshock929

<a href="http://pokegym.net/gallery/browseimages.p
I am completely sick to my stomach about people clamig one gaming company is better than the other. I have to deal with Nintendo Fanboys vs. Microsoft Fanboys vs. Sony Fanboys everytime I hang out with my friends or when I am online. Let me give my personal opinion...who cares about fanboys and what they think? I am not a fanboy for anything, but I am simply against them because they wont shut up about what system is the best/worst.

Has anyone here had to deal with any of this at all? If so, let me know and post your opinion, but don't bash anyone here about it. I am not saying any names or anything.

You're just saying that because Sony sux :p

If I had to ally myself with one particular company, it would be Sega. However, they don't count anymore, so it would then have to be Microsoft. I loved the X-Box, it provided me with countless hours of Covenant-mashing, Calibur-hunting Stormtrooper-murdering fun. I have yet to upgrade to an X-Box 360. I liked the first system, but I'm no fanboy. I still have sense. None of the games released so far have interested me. No way in hell I'm gonna fork out a couple of hundred euro for a new system I don't actually need - especially when the games I don't actually want are an exhorbant 70-75 bucks a pop - when I just bought Vice City for fifteen bob.

However, when I say I like the X-Box above the other options, I'll occasionally hear accusations of selling out to da man, or some peurile derivitive thereof. Inevitably it's from a fanboy. It's not as though Sony or Nintendo represent some sort of rebel yell, but Microsoft's corporate image is what matters in the minds of these people. It's a downside, so it's the only side. It doesn't come down to games with them, other than to nitpick past any given game's tiny failingss/enormous achievements, and focus only on it's enormous achievements/tiny failings, depending on whose system they're discussing. Their machine can only do good, while they only see the flaws in others.

It's not quite that extreme, I guess, as most will still play other systems, but their discussions can be boiled down to that. It's not a healthy way to game, ah rekin.

Man, that was a rather meandering rant. I won't mind if you all go ahead and forget all of it. I'm way ahead of yah!

Actually, it's not the fanboys that annoy me so much (except when it comes to the pile of crap called Naruto, where they're the bane of the earth, or the ever-overrated FF7, where they're simply dumb as bricks), it's the anti-fanboys that are far more annoying. You know, the type of person who takes any opportunity, or none at all, to spout off how much their hated thing sucks. This ranges from games, to platforms, to operating systems. You know, the type who abbreviates Microsoft to "M$" and never shuts up about how useless or buggy the system is, or how greedy Gates is, or whatever. They're the type who complains about Nintendo being kiddy and never making any serious games, or systems, or whines about the name "Wii" like it's the end of existence. They're the type who thinks gaming in general has gone to hell and that the only good games ever are ones made over 10-15 years ago. They're the ones who wouldn't try anything at all if it killed them not to, and treat people who use or even go as far as to like whatever it is they hate as stupid, or worse.

Could you PLEASE stop bashing that game and everyone who plays and likes it? Dumb as bricks is going a bit too far, from someone who just cant accept other peoples opinion, dont you think?

Why do you care what other people say? You know what you like, so go for that.

And FFVII is overrated.

I dont care what other people say, as long as they dont insult anyone.

... I almost never bash the game itself, save that it was overrated. I actually said nothing of the game, just the people who salivate over everything related to it and don't even think about it in terms of content, just fanboyism.

It's also worth noting that in both of the cases I presented, the fanboys are indeed more annoying than the anti-fanboys. People just like to antagonize me, and try it in all the wrong ways.

The worst type of Fanboys in my opnion are Halo Heads. Never stopping to play another game thinking Halo is the pinacle of gaming but it isn't it is just another shooter for the Xbox that happens to be flasher than the rest.
As far as FF7 goes I am a fan boy to an extent mostly I just try to defend it against people shotting it down. I don't think it was the greatest game ever but it is not so bad that it has to be bashed on every 5 minutes.

Reminds me of a conversation I had with a fanboy

Me: PS2 or Xbox?
Fanboy: PS2 because Xbox and M$ sucks
Me: What OS do you use?
Fanboy: Windows XP

CRAP? you call it CRAP?!!

That I do, because that's essentially what it is. It has nothing to do with any sort of realistic ninja, its pacing is downright terrible for an animé, it's directed mainly at the same crowd who enjoys Dragonball Z, i.e. those who who like a lot of fighting and mediocre "plots" so they can feel sophisticated. That and none of the guys are hot.

It's not an irrational dislike of Naruto, I simply call it as I see it.

I do like all fighting games, but I am not a fanboy for any of them, I just like them period.

The only system I dislike is the Xbox. I'm fine with (almost) any other system.

xbox has... Halo, and Halo 2... but i can just get halo and use it on my PC with a kyboard and mouse(awesome for first person shooters) so the incentive for the box was never there.

Agreed!
