Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Garbador and Dragonite!

So I have this really neat deck idea the uses garbador to deny my opponents poke powers, and the new dragonite using Deafen to deny my opponents the use of items. The only problem I am running into is that the deck has no energy excel. I was hoping someone would have some input on what to do here. My line up for pokemon is:

4-1-3 Dragonite
3-3 Garbador
2 Emolga (call for family)

I use 4 DCE and 8 Psychic (not that the energy type is highly relevant), i only use deafen and call for family. The issue is on T1 I use call for family. Turn 2 I have to attach a DCE to Dragonite, then it can't attack until T3. It consistently sets up garbador AND Dragonite on T2. I just need to find a way to attack a turn faster.

Thanks much.

Is there a particular reason why you didnt post the whole deck, and in the deck help forum? Its hard to help you with a deck when we dont know whats in it? Or rather, the way its built?

I've been wanting to try something like this since I read the translation. The idea is pretty good, but I found that the execution is hard and that the deck just gets overwhelmed easily.

One thing to try would be Sableye, Dark Patch, and Energy Switch. It's not the most reliable, but it gets the job done, and doesn't take too many cards. It also lets you throw in a few hammers for added disruption.

well under the pretense that you're using emolga for its "call for family" why not switch to using lightning energy, in the event you can't get any energy accel/engine going, and attack with its second attack while you set up dragonite?

there's also the luck-based pokedex/ether engine that you could try (with this sort of deck, I'd be hesitant to try it myself).

I do not run Emolga in my variant. I do, however, utilize Rock Guard with 4 recycle. I also use EXP share and Float Stone.

I didn't post the full deck because it's not relevant. Everyone runs a different T/S/S line. The only thing I'm worried about is setting up the energies in time.

Ether Dex sounds favorable to me. Also helps with draws and I could play bikes too!
I was also thinking plasma badge + Colress machine.
Thanks for the replies. I may be cutting emolga for the old Shaymin (non ex). thoughts?

It's not that great, you lose to speed decks. Dragonite is too risky, you need to Deafen ideally by turn 2 but no later than turn 3 to win.

Ghetsis on the first couple turns can help a little but they can just re-draw the items with juniper or N while you're setting up.

Zebstrika is better for the concept purely because it's so much more consistent to get off the Deafen by turn 2.

If you can't Deafen by t4 you have lost.

Another possibility to consider is utilizing the Ether "engine" to completely power-up Dragonite t2. Pokédex-Ether can be amazing at times.

Someone is late to the party.

Other options besides Sableye/Dark Patch/Energy Switch, EtherDex and VictiniEX could involve Plasma Badge. You could either Plasma Badge+Colress Machine, or even Plasma Badge and Raiden Knuckle with ThundurusEX(though if Victini feels clunky, this would be clunkier). You could also try Manaphy with Water Energy.

My biggest problem with Dragonite is that I cannot consistently get Candy+Dragonite and 3 Energy by T2. I can usually get one or the other, but not both.

So I think it's confirmed that nobody thinks this deck will be playable in the competitive meta with Gothitelle lock and plasma box.

Probably not, but I have been proven wrong before and it would be a fun deck to try out.

Try energy switch or EXP share. One of my favorite plays is to energy switch off of Emolga after a T1 CFF.

Now or in a few months? Gothitelle will be gone if rotation gets rid of EP, and even if it doesn't, next set will have Virizion, which puts a stop to Accelgor shananigans.

If you can trainer lock with Gothetille with NO energy and it fails... how will Dragonite use a 3 energy attack and expect better results?
.
I've tried the deafen deck... it's just bad pie regardless of what you serve it with.
.
Don't go down this path.... it leads to nowhere.
