I think Gengar is definitely one of the best options.
I think I'm a relatively apt player, but Gengar is probably my hardest matchup..regardless of the deck I'm using. It isn't as easy to play around as you make it sound. You get behind on energy attachments when you attack with Uxie and then you have to somehow get your active out of the active position when you want to attack with that Uxie.
Gengar players are also aware of the tricks out there to get around Fainting Spell and can respond with their own counters. I think having a Nidoqueen tech in a Gengar deck answers many of the "problems" the deck faces (such as poison and Crobat).
I think it's a very good choice.

That's when it's time to attack with Nidoqueen.
You cant really say gengar is not that good, if so, answer these q's
1. why has it won so much (it got 2nd at a nats)
2. why has it forced the format to use unown g's (dont tell me dusknoir did it)
3. when you play it, you have to burn so many cards and tech in so many things, if it is bad, why does it control the format and make people change there decklists?
1) Many many many many players don't know the match up as well as they think they do.
2) Because without Unown G, Gengar is broken.
3) Because otherwise, Gengar would do tons of damage.
Look, Gengar is a great card. Great. The flaw of the deck, is top tier players will know the match up, they will be prepared and they will beat it handily, save poor starts. They can control Gengar's damage output, and at that point in the game, what can Gengar even do?
